Thank you still_looking.   Yes, I think we'll never be able to narrow it down with any certainly, but much appreciate your observations on the detail and for the V&A link!

Is there anyone our there who would like to hazard a guess at the possible date of this (photo of a) watercolour painting please?
The farm itself was demolished sometime in the early 1900s, so not within living memory of anyone in the village, but a local friend has unearthed this painting of it.
The outfit of the man in the photo may give some clues as to when the original might have been painted, but it needs an expert eye for fashion (which I don't have!!)
I have a photo of the farmer from around 1901 outside the barn in my collection.  Photos attached plus a higher res detail of the figures.
TIA for anyone with any ideas!!

QueenoftheWest, arthurk and Bookbox - Firstly, my heartfelt apologies for such a late reply (hard-drive failure has had me computer-less!!)    Thanks so much to all of you for picking this up, for your responses and also your great insights into just what this document was and to whom was involved! Many thanks to you all - aitch

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help with Will dated 1538 please?

Would anyone be willing/able to help with this Will of Roberti Swinston of Croxden, Staffordshire.    I've been able to cope with later Wills, but this one has me stumped as I can't even best guess the terms they might have used at that time.
I can spot his name and (I think!) Yeoman and husbandman further on, but if anyone can help with any of the rest I'd be very grateful!
TIA

Is there anyone out there willing to decipher the Latin on these two descriptions from 1696 and 1697.  They're of two bridges in Burnsall and Kettlewell in the West Riding of Yorkshire.

Any help would be very gratefully received!
TIA
