Thank you for the suggestion.   I did eventually sen for the 1850 Marriage Certificate you suggested.
This tells me that Bridget's father's name was Patrick Trainer, a Weaver.
This is a new name to me.
Any help to find Patrick Trainer would be appreciated.

Hello again Monica.  I thought I would just update you.  As a result of your help I have been able to put my friend Ann in touch with the family of her late father.   In fact they are hoping to visit UK in 2024.   I noted that you had been able to put "Amendments" on the reubique site.
Thank you again.

Thanks Sandra.   I tried this link - it hopefully worked eventually, but was not without hassle.  I was speaking from UK to someone in USA and they insisted I get on to my bank to authorise the payment first.
But many thanks for the link.
Jazgran.

I need to renew Ancestry membership worldwide - are there any offers on at the moment, or due for Black Friday?

Thanks Trish 1120 for your replies.   Yes that is where I got the surname from "Sutherland" using the GRO mothers maiden name.   But I still can't find a marriage for them.   I did find a Janet (Jessie) Sutherland in the 1841 Scotland census.   So am looking for a marriage after 1841 until she appears married to James Dalziel in the 1851 England census.

Thankyou Carol W for your reply.   I cannot see a marriage for them in England or Wales, so wondered if they married in Scotland.   They appear in the 1851 England census living in Birkenhead, both say born Scotland and with their first child Daniel also born Scotland.   Later children all born England. Later Census mentions James born Lanarkshire and Janet (Jessie) bon Midlothian.

The name "Sutherland" was passed to me by a family member.   I wonder if it is wrong.
