Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / James Simpson CHAPMAN
« on: Saturday 25 February 23 15:49 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I have a James Simpson Chapman born c.1798 in Hull.  I can find his marriage and burial but not his baptism.  I think the family may have been nonconformist.  Does anyone have any advice where I can look for nonconformist baptisms at that time in Hull.

I wish everyone thought like you Guy.  I have endeavoured to research my tree to the best of my ability, although it disagrees with 90% of the trees on Ancestry.  The difference is I have records to back mine up.  My research is in North Yorkshire where lots of records are available online, so why others can't do the same instead of blindly copying others is beyond me.  I like to know who's blood is in my veins LOL

Many of the inaccuracies aren't from Ancestry, they are from subscribers who dont research their ances
tors particularly well, then their mistakes are copied over and over by people who just blindly follow without checking

Try also searching under the name DOWSON.  There's a Christopher Dowson buried 1820 Helmsley abode East Moors and estimated birth year 1747.  There's a baptism 1747 Appleton le Street Christopher Dowson father John.

I am white and married to an Egyptian.  Our son is light skinned.  My husband's brother is also married to a white lady and their children are very dark skinned with black hair.  DNA really is a mystery

Is that the Thomas Garbutt who died 1594?  Are you sure his father was John as there were several.
