Armed Forces / British Army Regulations - COMPLETED
« on: Sunday 18 July 10 09:33 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I have an ancestor who joined the army and then appears to have quit 4 days later in 1892 after paying ten pounds.

When searching for the relevant regulations would anyone know what title to use, possibly British Army regulations?

I have the relevant papers, I'd just like to get an idea of what the relevant rules were at the time.

The location will be Hamilton in Scotland but can anyone date this image (and if possible repair it).

I have a much larger 1200dpi scan if that would help.

Street view in the UK has been updated today, they now claim 95% of the UK is covered.

Can be handy when trying to identify places.

Of course you realise that the part you need to view will naturally be in the other 5%.

This might be more appropriate under armed forces? As far as I could tell it hadn't been added before.

Armed Forces / Boer War - muster roll
« on: Tuesday 09 February 10 22:58 GMT (UK)  »
Is there a muster roll for the Boer War for Newcastle?

I'm trying to help someone find a John Douglass who is understood to have served in the Northumberland Fusiliers.

Can anyone give an approximate date for this family?

Unfortunately I don't have the original to hand so I can't shed any light on the type of photo or who took it.

The scan is only at 150dpi so restorers might want to hold back until I can get a higher quality scan.
