One of my mothers aunts was called "Peggy", but she really named Phyllis. Just another possibility for you.

Patience will have its reward in the end. I have only just found 2 missing marriages on my fathers side of the family - after tracing this line of my family tree for 15 years!

I hope it is not another 15 years before I find the other elusive marriage - of my great great great grandmother.

The moral is - never give up hope!

Well, I seem to be in the minority - I find the blue colour much harder to read and more tiring on the eyes. I am not male, and not colour blind either. Just long sighted with a squint!!

I don't know if it is just the blue with the present, usual background, or if it is simply the blue colour my eyes can't cope with!!

World War One / Re: WW1 MM???
« on: Wednesday 31 August 05 21:29 BST (UK)  »
MM is the Military medal which was awarded from 1916 , for "distinguished service in the field" for lower ranks.

There is usually a mention of the name/date in the London Gazette, but no other details - at least there wasn't in the case of one of my relations who also got a MM.

For further information try the Long Long Trail website

www.1914-1918.net

I have found this very helpful with my First World War relations.

P.S. I am sure others will be able to tell you more - but you can download a copy of his Medal Index card from the National Archives website (£3-50)
