further to my original post at

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,194930.0.html

i thought you might be interested to hear about our meeting.

I met the elder of my 'new' sibs (a sister) today.  We talked solidly for 3.5 hours - but it was like we had always known each other!  our birthdays are only 1 day apart (plus 6 years), we have many of the same interests (not just family history), and you can tell we are sisters to look at us!

The next step is for me to make contact with the other 3 and hopefully meet them over the christmas period.

I have also spoken  to my father's sister - for the first time in about 45 years.  It was wonderful to make contact with her, and i hope to meet her again soon as well.

Incidental to the emotional gains from all this, I have also been able to make progress with the family tree on that side of the family, something i thought i would have to wait until the 1911 or even 1921 censuses were available to do.

anyway - thats it for now

Sue - still on cloud nine

thanks for all the replies.

as far as a story behind it - well pure luck!  I had found a distant cousin a couple of years ago in Oz.  He was contacted by my sister thro Genes Reunited about a common ancestor (bearing in mind she has literally just started researching!) and mailed me about it.  He passed my email address on and as they say the rest is history.

As well as four new sibs I have an additional nine nephews and nieces, have contact with my long last aunt, and my father's second wife.

I had found my aunt but had never had the nerve to contact her, so this is doubly pleasing.

Sadly my father and grand parents are all dead, but still mustn't be too greedy!

no further news to report at the moment except i spent an hour on the phone with the eldest of the girls last night.  Funilly enough they all live pretty close - in neighbouring counties.  even funnier as kids they lived in a town which i drive thro about once a week!
