He looks interesting.
I would think that this John is a cousin to John/Patrick of my ancestors. Their is only one Nugent family in Corrkakyle so I assume that this John's father moved away and married Anne XXX, who at some time after 1911, moved back to the townland. There was no Anne Nugent living in Corrakyle or nearby in the 1911 census.
Hillaloe(?), is Killaloe, Curraghkyle is Currakyle and Cahis is Cahir. All are close to Currakyle.
Our John had a sister, Annie Nugent who may be the one on the manifest although there are a number of differences in terms of names/ages etc to make it likely.
The Adriatic arrived in NY almost a year to the day when that other White Line ship RMS Titanic should have arrived. The Adriatic was originally captained by Edward Smith, who later moved to the Titanic.
John was fortunate that he didn't decide to visit his sister Anne a year earlier.......

There was only one family of Nugents living in Corrakyle which included Patrick in the 1901 census. By 1911 Patrick and several siblings had left home and the remainder of the family were still there in 1911 including John.
Re Patrick's mother. She was known as both Honora and Nora but may have used her husband's name Michael in any formal sense as was common at the time. The rest of the entry in the manifest seems to fit suggesting that "our" Patrick visited the USA in 1914 either to visit his brother John or to emigrate there.

Unfortunately not. All I have is USA.
Some other cousins settled around Bradford PA so he may have followed.

The brothers had a sister called Anne and another called Bridget. Bridget married John Kelly. They may have emigrated since life in Ireland was hard. I have Anne's DOB as 1878 but she appears in the 1901 census aged 17 = DOB 1884. The family fairly were quite "flexible" with their ages so this could be her.
Sandra
As above, the family fairly were quite "flexible" with their ages but maybe Patrick left USA to marry, and died elsewhere. John however did die in America. He didn't marry.

Yes - it is difficult to read the address. Also alongside his place of birth is "mother Mrs N Nugent address Currakyle, Co Clare". Feakle is a town close to the townland of Currakyle which may have been used as a POB since few people would recognise Currakyle. Patrick's profession was "Labourer" which could men that he had no trade as such.
I am not sure if Patrick was visiting John or had moved permanently to the USA

Hi Sandra
That's the family. By 1911, Patrick had left home.
Patrick is said to have married Mary Ellen McMahon who taught at the local National School in Corrakyle.
Patrick was listed as single on the 1914 passenger list so either he returned to marry his bride or she emigrated to USA and married him there.
It is not known if the couple settled in USA or returned to Ireland.

Hi Lisa
Thanks for the quick reply
Their parents were Michael and Honora (Nora) Nugent (nee Maloney).
Patrick was born/baptised on 28 March 1893.
John was born/baptised 7 October 1883.
Children were usually baptised within a week of being born.
The brothers worked on the family farm before they emigrated.
Both John and Patrick were born in Corrakyle (Currakykle) which is in Co Clare, Tomgraney Parish.
I hope this helps
Thanks

A quick thanks to everyone who took the time to look up info on Nora. As an added bonus, you unearthed her sister Margaret.
I've now got a fairly clear picture of wha happened to the sisters after they left Ireland for a new life in Australia

Thanks again

Darryl
