Hi Little Nell You could be right It states hampshire on his deathcert but perhaps it was a guess on the part of family as his history is unknown until he reached nz. But I still feel that the bible was started overseas and traveled because of the dates of birth and he was born circa late 1830s. maybe I have to look at al the areas in england that sound similar to hampshire. hereford

Hi rae The reason I put the childrens full names as tthere maybe others who are decended from that family line. We know nothing about the mother apart from her name and my thinking was that the childrens full names may help in that area. All we know is that she lived in the lawrence area at the time of the gold rush. Who are her family was she the only carruthers there and where did her family originaly come from. Hereford

I have been handed a copy of the dawson family bible and there are some names of interest Dawson children born between 1822 and 1843. Oliver dawson was  born circa 1839.I believe that this bible may have been started in england and I am stating to wonder if the family followedthe goldtrail Now Oliver was born hanmpshire according to birth cert the other names are Hannah Dawson B may 1822.ann dawson B july 1826 Died sept 1854 28
hugh Dawson B sept 1828
elizabeth dawson B 1836
John Oliver Dawson B1840 Died july aged 9
Jane Dawson dec 1831  Died Aug aged 49
Oliver dawson  I think it says junior  april22 1843 Died Oct aged 51 This is not the Oliver who is my great great grandfather   So I am wondering if they are his brothers and sisters as their birthdates and his are very close. He died 1911 aged 72 in nz. This may be of help to someone Thanks Hereford

Yes you are correct they will be my relations I do have a name and birth dates Hoping to find info on professions and why the family moved to stirlingshire from dunbartonshire. I have no profession of william Andrew 1765 and his wife who was Isabel Terrim. And why there is thought to be a connection to the cadder mining disaster in1931. As you can see I do have a small amount of info but more info would be great. Thanks for replying  Hereford
