I am researching Oliver Dawson . Our info on this man is very limited but on his death printout is a little information  Oliver Dawson Born circa 1839 Hampshire England Father   Dawson but mother unknown
His Fathers profession states farmer . Stories in the family are that he followed the gold trails and ended up in nz His printout reads in nz 50yrs so he was22 when he came to nz so if he had followed the gold trail he must of been very young when left england. Hope someone can shed some light

Thanks hereford

Australia / Annie HONAN
« on: Monday 11 January 10 01:27 GMT (UK)  »
Wishing for info on a lady from victoria. On her death cert spelling a little hard to understand So I will write what I see and hopefully makes sense

Annie Honan? born circa 1843 at Goedburn? Victoria   Married An Englishman Oliver Dawson who according to family legend followed the gold trial. Married at 18 at Heathcote Victoria circa 1861. They had one son William Oliver Dawson born circa 1866. They emigrated to the nz goldfields Now Honan is a name I have not heard of but that is how it is spelt on her Daughters marriage  cert.Honan to me sounds like a name from somewhere in Europe. My world History is a little hazy but I am pretty sure that people from europe came over to the Aussie goldfieds so wonder if her family originated from there?  Thanks Hereford
