Lancashire Lookup Requests / 1841 Census Lookup, Please
« on: Monday 30 January 06 00:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Could some kind person please look up my GG Grandfather, Thomas EARNSHAW, (b. 1809 - 1813 in Todmorden) on the 1841 Census for Gorton, Lancs?  He's not on the Todmorden census for 1841.

At the time of his marriage to Mary RILEY in 1843, they were both living in Gorton, but later moved to AuL.   His occupation was Brewer.

Thanks very much.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / TRAVIS - AuL
« on: Thursday 15 December 05 22:59 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All,

I'm having trouble finding the death of my gg-grandfather, John TRAVIS.  He was a butcher on Delamere St, Ashton-under-Lyne, born in Dukinfield in 1828.  I have him on the 1851 census with wife Jane.  He had two sons, James (1851) and Samuel (1854).  His widow remarried in 1860 at Christ Church (Peter WILDE).

He must have died between 1854 and 1859, but I've had no luck finding his death so I can send for a certificate.  Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Hi All,

I have been trying to find my GG-Grandfather Thomas EARNSHAW's parents - John EARNSHAW and Betty (STANSFIELD) in Todmorden - with no success.

According to Todmorden St. Mary's Church records, John was born in 1789 and married Betty in 1808.  Their son Thomas, a brewer/maltster, was born about 1813 in Todmorden.  He married Mary RILEY in Manchester Cathedral in 1843.  At that time both their addresses were Gorton, but for the rest of their lives they lived in Ashton-under-Lyne.  John is shown on the cert. as a labourer.

If anyone can check the 1841 Todmorden census for John & Betty EARNSHAW, I would be very grateful.

Lancashire Completed Lookup Requests / 1841 Census - WARREN - Completed
« on: Thursday 13 October 05 22:17 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

Can anyone please look up my ggg-grandfather John WARREN on the 1841 census?

In 1851 he was widowed, aged 58, and living on York St, Ashton-under-Lyne with sons Joshua (25) and John (20).  He also had a daughter Jane, b. 1829 (my gg-grandmother), and possibly other children.  All born in Ashton.

His occupation on Jane's 1850 marriage cert. was "Hatter", but in 1851 and 61 censuses he was a "Proprietor of Houses", and in 1871 he was shown as a "Retired Farmer".

I am trying to find his wife's name.

Thanks a lot!

Montgomeryshire Lookup Requests / 1841 Census - Welshpool - EVANS
« on: Tuesday 11 October 05 06:56 BST (UK)  »
 Hello,

Thanks for your look-up offer for the 1841 census.  I would really appreciate a search for my great-grandmother, Sarah EVANS, b. 1832-33, in Welshpool.  On her 1857 marriage cert. to John PRYCE, her father is shown as Samuel EVANS, weaver, deceased.

There is a Sarah Evans age 19 born in Kerry on the 1851 Newtown census, and also a Samuel Evans, weaver, age 61 b. in Aberhafesp - so perhaps they could be my family.  However, on every census from 1861 to 1901 she says she was born in Welshpool, and my great-granny wouldn't tell a lie, would she?

Thanks a lot!
