Looking for any information on the above who was born 1889 in Gatehouse of Fleet, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland. Of particular interest is his date of death which may have been in Chicago. Prior to Chicago, he lived in Canada where he enlisted in the army during 1915.
Many thanks.

John Kirkpatrick.
Sorry, in my query I should have said John died aged 68 in the parish of Lochrutton, not Irongray!

I wonder if anyone else may be tracing the 'life and times' of John Kirkpatrick who farmed Bogrie, now Henderland, in the parish of Irongray, Kirkcudbrightshire, and died at nearby Deanside, on 18/1/1845.
I am particularly interested to learn if he spent time in the Carolinas during the second half of the 1800s.

Very many thanks for the map and you prompt response, hanes teulu. A magnifying glass on the very faded birth certificate also proved the place name to be Dewar.  Great result indeed and thanks again.

On two birth certificates of 1804 and 1807, the above are given as place names in Midlothian and I'm wondering if anyone can enlighten me as to exactly where they are/were located? The father of the children was working at these locations as a stone mason.
Thanks,
Bob.

Very many thanks, Luath, this is precisely the information I was seeking. Unfortunately, I didn't see the article but I will now try to find it.
Well done and thank you again.

Thank you again, Annie and Rosie.
No children as far as I'm aware and widow may have died in Glasgow. Will follow this up for possible clues.
Cheers.
Bob.
