Montgomeryshire Lookup Requests / 1841 and/or 1851 please
« on: Saturday 09 July 05 12:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi

It would be great if someone could look up the following for me in 1851 and/or 1841:

Eliza Davies b: 1838, Worthen, Shropshire.

Eliza was my ggg grandmother. In all the census '61' to 91 she gives Worthen as her birth place.

I have a  record (IGI uncomfirmed) of her marriage to  Samuel Gardner in Trelystan, Montgomery, Wales in 1856. I know Worthen and Trelystan are close on the border.

Any help greatly appreciated. :)

Cheers

Lancashire Lookup Requests / 1841 census - Oldham Below Town
« on: Tuesday 07 June 05 08:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I'm looking for William Taylor (ggggrandfather), born 1826 in Oldham, although in one census he gives Glodwick which I think was part of Oldham, he was a coalminer.

In 1851 he was married and living at 1K St Matthews, Oldham Below Town. He wouldn't be married in 41, probably with parents.

He always lived in the Oldham Below Town district. Thank you for any help, it would be really appreciated!!!!

Cheers

« on: Tuesday 07 June 05 07:55 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am looking for Robert Webb b:1818 in Dawley. I'd love to find his parents!

In 1851 he was living at Holly Hedge, Dawley with his wife Emma (1819)  and children. I don't know if he was married in 1841 or not, the first child was born in 1842.

There are not many Webbs in Dawley, they all seem related in some way, so I would be happy to know about any you find ;D

Montgomeryshire / Was there any predjudice?
« on: Wednesday 25 May 05 03:39 BST (UK)  »
Hi :)

I was just wondering if in the 18th century the Welsh resented English rule, did Welsh who moved over the border into England, (I have a lot of ancestors who moved over to Shropshire), sometimes try to cover up their Welsh birth places in order to avoid predjudice or trouble?

I have some confusing info were relatives living in Shropshire have stated in census that everyone in the house was born in the town they are living in(Shropshire), but when I look on BMD or IGI I get the right names and approx. dates, but births, marriages and christenings are taking place in Montgomeryshire, Wales?

Wondered if anyone else had the same experience?

Cheers
Wendy
