Firstly, thanks all for your input. Here is a bit more info to help the cause.
1851 census: Richard is age 23 living in Buckley Street with wife Bridget and parents George and Elizabeth. Also, younger brother William, age 21.
I have all the documentation/certificates to know that parents Geo & Elizabeth and William died within 6 weeks of each other of the same disease. This happened pre 1861.
1861 census: Richard is age 32 living with wife Bridget and children. Other siblings living next door. This was in Store Street, Ancoats.
1862: Bridget dies. 1863: Richard age 35 marries Alice Hayes age 39.
(There is a Manchester Rate record of a Richard living at 8 Blossom St, Ancoats (possibly him ??)
1871 census we are discussing: Richard is age 42 which would be correct. Who is the William?
Alice could be his sister age 36 but to my knowledge, unmarried. The age of the Alice mentioned on the marriage in 1863 should be abt 47.
I have tried, tried and tried, to locate a marriage for Alice Hayes/Heyes/Heys, father Daniel and also tried to find a death of her spouse. Unsuccessfully on all counts. I'm starting to have dreams about this!! When all else fails, turn to Rootschat!!
Thanks Jen, I will check out those you mentioned in Hulme Street and see where it leads.
