The Common Room / Was registering a death the man's job?
« on: Wednesday 26 September 12 16:32 BST (UK)  »
On nearly all of my family's death Certificates, one of the men in the family has registered the death. I wondered if it was considered a job for a man? Would a female only tend to register a death if absolutely necessary?

Ada's last known address was King Street, Caboolture, Fisher, Queensland, with husband Joseph Kelly. I can't find a death for either of them, which did make me wonder if they had moved on or even returned to the Uk as they had returned a few times before, but still no luck finding them.
Thanks again for the help!

Thanks everyone for all the help and advice.
The William F Needle who died in Coventry is listed as William T Needle elsewhere, which I followed up and found a William Thomas Needle.
The other post is my William, my father in law found the photo.
William was born in 3rd qu 1885, in Banbury, Oxfordshire. His sister was Ada Mabel, who was born in 1883 in Southam, Warks. She emigrated to Australia and married a Joseph Michael Kelly. I've found them on the electoral rolls in queensland up until 1968 when she was 86. I haven't found her death.
All the help is much appreciated!

Armed Forces / Re: Identification of regiment etc if possible

Thanks so much for all that. It could made sense that he was still serving after 1920 , as I can't find him on the electoral roll till 1925.
Sadly I don't have the original but I'll ask its owner for a better scan.

Hi. he is William Frederick Needle, born in Banbury, Oxfordshire in September 1885.

Anything at all will help - the uniform and hat looked a bit desert-like to me?

I've looked through military records on all the usual websites but not found anything so far.

Thanks!

Hi - this is recently discovered photo of my husband's g-grandad, and we'd love to know what he did in WW1. Any ideas or help would be great! Many thanks.

Sorry, thought you meant which port! We assume he left from England - but he literally went out to the shop one day, in Birmingham, and never returned. His sister lived in Queensland.
Thanks for the help both.
