Staffordshire Lookup Requests / 1841 census TIPTON
« on: Friday 04 November 05 02:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I would be most grateful for a look up on the 1841 census.
The person I'm looking for is ELIZABETH JONES.
She was born in 1840 in TIPTON
I can't find her birth & on her marriage record the fathers name was unreadable, so I don't know who her parents are.
Hope someone can help.
Thank you for anything you come up with
Barbara

Hi, I would be most grateful for a lookup on the 1841 census for Auckland.
I'm looking for an ELIZABETH STONES aged 10, born 1830. she was born in Black Fell. I think her Dad was Harvey or Harry Stones, a pitman. She may have brothers Henry & Joseph.
Hope this is enough info for a search
Thank you
Barbara :)

Roscommon / Re: Haggart from Roscommon
« on: Tuesday 05 July 05 00:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi Ros,
Thank you again for your messages, I'm having trouble sending personal messages to people at the moment, don't know what I'm doing wrong!
You've given me a lot to think about!
I was very interested in what you say about the Quack Doctors. they would rely on knowledge handed down rather than book learning wouldn't they?
I expect many people would eye these people with a certain suspicion too.
More intrigue, was Hugh running away from some malpractice accusations?

As to Alexander Haggart, I was in touch with his gr.. grandson a while back but sadly we came to no conclusions or connections. This chap, also Alex confirmed his Haggarts came from Scotland & that there were no Haggarts left in Roscommon now.
Thanks again for your help.

Hi Ros,
Thank you for your message, I tried replying off list but again it disappeared! ???
Hopefully you'll get to see this. ;)
I'm really grateful for the info on Patrick Haggard, it looks as if he's mine, it gives me something more to go on.
What was the record from, a census or a parish record?
This is such a great site with lovely people posting!
Take care
Barbara :D

Hi Colin,
I tried to reply to you off list but my message disappeared! ???
Anyway, there were 2 Mary Gallaghers on the 1881 census one is Hugh & Catherine's daughter Mary Ann born in 1856 in Brum & the other is Mary daughter of David & Mary Gallagher. She was born in 1857.
It would be lovely if she was Hugh's daughter!
They probably went to the same Church, St Annes.
Hugh Gallagher came from Leitrim, a neighbouring county.
I had a laugh when you said you had taught some modern day Gallaghers, I hope for your sake they weren't as feisty & wild as my mob apparently were!
The two boys especially, Francis & Hubert, were by all accounts "Hard drinking & fighting men, typical Irish"!!

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1861 or 1871 census Birmingham
« on: Sunday 03 July 05 01:29 BST (UK)  »
Thank you Colin, it's good to get to know just where these old addresses were.
I'm in Australia so these little bits of info add a to the big picture.
I've just found this post but I've sent you a message about the Gallaghers, it looks from what you say that our Gallaghers went to the same Church so we could be talking about the same family.
Thanks

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1871 census Birmingham lookup please
« on: Friday 13 May 05 05:50 BST (UK)  »
Thank you Susan!! :-* You're a Star!

This is my "mob", my 2Gr Granddad James who on other census says he was born at sea, sometimes the Irish Channel, sometimes the Atlantic Ocean!  Plus my Gr Granddad, Frederick George!
Also this answers some questions as to where Minnie & Manfred fit in.

Sorry, I forgot to say that Harriet Fellowes (future Gr Grandma) was either born in B'ham or Glamorgan Wales. She states in 1891 it was Glam. but others it's B'ham.
I have her Dad James, on the 1851 census lodging  in B'ham & born in Brum.
James was deceased by 1878 (Harriet's wedding) I think there could be an older brother, John. Hope this can narrow the search down a bit.
Thank you so much for what you've already done.
All the best

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / 1871 census Birmingham lookup please
« on: Thursday 12 May 05 15:36 BST (UK)  »
I would be very grateful if I could have a look up on the 1871 census in Birmingham.
The family I'm interested in:
James (b 1834) & Sarah Shipp (b 1833) he was a Fitter & they could be in Navigation Street, they were there in 1878.
Children should be - James, Charles, Frederick George & Louisa Mary.
Also if possible,  Harriet Fellow(e)s (b 1858) father James who was a plane maker.
She could be in Sherlock Street.
Hope that's enough info to track them down!
Thank you
Barbara
