Shropshire Lookup Requests / any census info on Embrey
« on: Thursday 06 July 06 17:07 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for info on Charles Embrey b.1820 in Montgomeryshire. I know he was visiting his cousin in Shrewsbury in 1881, but have no other info.
Also two Fanny Embreys: one b.1864 in Montgomeryshire, the other b.1869 in Chirbury.
The family were corn millers.
Thanks, Kathryn

Dunbartonshire / 1881 - 1901 census lenzie
« on: Monday 05 June 06 12:38 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying  to find out who has lived in my house since it was built in 1870's.  If anyone has access to relevant censuses, who lived in Sherbrooke in Victoria road, Lenzie (tho' I believe it may have been called something different then)?
Thanks Kathryn

Radnorshire Lookup Requests / whilding 1841-1871
« on: Sunday 28 May 06 17:38 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Looking for Thomas Whilding and wife Elizabeth Rees m.1843.
Thomas may have been born in Montgomeryshire, moved to Radnorshire and then to Wrexham area so may not be on Radnorshire censuses. I think Elizabeth was a widow in 1881.
Thanks, Kate

Shropshire / st austin's court shrewsbury
« on: Friday 27 January 06 16:43 GMT (UK)  »
I have found that an ancestor died (of scrofula, age 10 in 1859) at St Austin's Court, Shrewsbury and wondered if anyone can tell me if this was a hospital of some sort.  I have no record of the family ever living at this address.

Thanks, Kathryn

Radnorshire Lookup Requests / residents of Bwlchgwyn, St Harmon 1851/1841
« on: Sunday 06 November 05 13:34 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Is it possible for someone to find out who was living at Bwlchgwyn, St Harmon in 1841 and 1851 censuses?
There seem to be two households, at least from 1861 onwards. I have found only one family (Williams) at Bulchgwyn in 1841, but cannot find anyone in 1851. Families in 1861 were Evans, the vicar of st harmon, and Brunt, farmer.
Thanks, Kate

Gloucestershire / cheltenham orphanages
« on: Saturday 05 November 05 12:40 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Two of my ancestors - Thomas Probert b.1857 and Mary Ann Probert b. 1870; both born Disserth, Radnorshire - were in Cheltenham orphanages on 1881 census. Is it possible to find out who sponsored them, when they left and if possible where they went?  I cannot find them on censuses after 1881.
Thanks,  Kate

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / 1891 census Blurton and Grainger
« on: Wednesday 19 October 05 16:01 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone supply info on Richard Blurton b.1846 in Uttoxeter.  In 1881 he was in Doveridge, Derby; and in 1901 in Flintshire.

Also his son Richard b.1873 in Doveridge.  They were bricklayers or stone masons.

And Mary Ann Grainger b.1862, possibly in Cambs.

Thanks, Kate
