Shropshire Lookup Requests / richard vaughan/ellen williams
« on: Thursday 17 February 05 12:45 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help with information on Richard Vaughan and his wife Ellen Williams? They married in 1848 at Trinity Church Shrewsbury, and I have found Ellen as a widow in the 1871 census. I don't have any info on them prior to their marriage. Ellen was born around 1824, her father was Edward Williams, a coachman, and she was living at Coton Hill (?) at time of marriage. Richard Vaughan was described as a miller living at Moele Road in 1848, but as a beer seller in 1852 when his daughter Ellen was born.  His father was Thomas Vaughan, also a miller.
Thanks for any help

Kate

Can anyone help trace the daughter born to my grandparents, Pryce and Clara Evans, nee Probert, around 1919. I think her name began with G, and they were living in Kerry.  She died at around 3 years of age.
Thanks, Kate

Also Elizabeth Gilbert, born Lichfield, 1853, Charles' wife. I have nothing on her prior to 1881 either. Her parents were John and Ann Gilbert.
Many thanks.

Census and Resource Discussion / places not recorded on census
« on: Sunday 06 February 05 16:04 GMT (UK)  »
Are there any places where the 1891 census was notrecorded - hospitals, prisons etc? I'm trying to find Edward Embrey (b.1854, Montgomeryshire). He's on both 1881 and 1901 censuses but not 1891.  Is there a way to check online if he was serving in forces overseas? Seems unlikely, though, as his profession was corn miller - not very military.

Can anyone find the whereabouts of Edward Embrey (born Montgomeryshire 1854)in 1891? 1881 census has him in Warwickshire with wfe Ellen; 1901 census has him in Shropshire, but in 1891 Ellen is recorded as the head of the house at Fitz Mill, Shropshire. He was a corn miller, born at Filmore according to 1881 census, or Berriew according to 1901 census. Might these be the same place?
