My great-uncle was Head Postmaster at a town in Lincolnshire. You should also find your ancestor listed in Town Directories for the appropriate area.

My great-grandfather was a Timekeeper.  He checked the arrival and departure of men who worked in a factory in Grantham.  A dockworker could have the same sort of job.

My great-grandfather was a Wesleyan Preacher, but he was not an ordained minister.  Perhaps your ancestor was what Methodists call a Local Preacher and had another day-time occupation?  At this date there might not be a Wesleyan burial ground, so be sure to check civil cemeteries as well.

Dublin / Re: A Directory of Dublin Surnames/Trades 1738
« on: Friday 04 February 05 19:18 GMT (UK)  »
Hello
I am wanting to trace any reference to Richard and Eleanor Brooks in Dublin. Richard Brooks was a weaver, and should be in Dublin Directory if weavers are mentioned.  Any reference at all to these names or their marriage (RC) would be helpful.  Thank you
Graham
