Lancashire / Looking for Charles Jones after 1871
« on: Tuesday 10 June 14 21:01 BST (UK)  »
1871 census at 7, Lowther St., Liverpool (RG10/3785/86/42):

Eliza Jones, Head, W, 49, Annuitant, born Chester
Charles .., son, unM, 21, Cotton Salesman/Warehouseman, born Liverpool
James .., son, unM, 19, Apprentice to Cotton Broker, born Liverpool

I also have the family, in Liverpool, in the 1861 and 1851 censuses.

There is a death for Eliza Jones, 49 (A,M,J 1871 Liverpool 8b, 167); I can follow James Jones through censuses 1881 - 1911 in the Liverpool/Wirral area.

Charles's father, Robert Evan Jones, was born Anglesey 1825, became the Senior Steward on the Cunard SS Arabia and died 1 June 1869 in Liverpool. Robert Evan Jones and Eliza (Gibson) married Chester 22 Jan 1849.

I haven't been able to find Charles Jones after 1871 and will be grateful for suggestions. Thanks.

Anglesey / What became of Agnes?
« on: Thursday 02 May 13 14:47 BST (UK)  »
Agnes was the adopted daughter of John Thomas (b. Llanfechell 1847) and Hannah Thomas (b. Caergeiliog, Bodedern 1848). Her age in 1901 and 1911 suggests Agnes was born about 1882-5, her place of birth is given as not known (N.K.) in 1901 and Valley, Llanynghenedl in 1911.

In the 1891 census (RG12/4679/125/5) Agnes Davies Thomas is described as the 'daur(adopted)' of John and Hannah Thomas who are living at Chapel House, Valley. Agnes's age and place of birth are both left blank, and apparently she speaks only English.

John Thomas married Hannah Thomas at St. David's Church, Liverpool on 27 July 1874, both are described as residents of Liverpool, and they were living in Everton, Liverpool for the 1881 census (RG11/3661/105/41).

In 1906 (O,N,D qtr) Agnes Davies Thomas married Owen Jones (St. Asaph 11b 579) and in 1911 they are living with daughter Hannah Elizabeth (and Agnes's widowed mother, Hannah) at Hen Gapel, Bryngwran, Valley. Owen is a cattle dealer, born about 1878 at Bryngwran.
Owen and Agnes had ten daughters born on Anglesey between Dec 1906 and March 1925 - one died in infancy:-

Hannah Elizabeth b. 9 Dec 1906, Holyhead
Agnes Hilda b. 18 Nov 1908, Llechylched; d. 7 Sep 1909
Jane b. 11 Apr 1911, Llechylched
Agnes Hilda b. 26 Jun 1913, Llechylched
Mair b. 20 May 1915, Llanfwrog
Gwyneth b. 13 Jan 1917, Llanfwrog
Olwen May b. 1 May 1918, Llanfwrog
Eluned Eunice b. 5 Mar 1921, Llanfwrog
Rona Gwendoline b. 1 Aug 1923, Llanfwrog
Henrietta Irene b. 26 Mar 1925, Llanfwrog

And then no trace. I cannot find a marriage record for any of the daughters, nor the death of any other daughter nor for Agnes and Owen.
Does anyone know what became of any member of this family?

His parents grave at Siloh Chapel, Caergeiliog, Anglesey records that Richard Jones died aged 40 on 12th January 1889 and was buried in Westoe cemetery.

Can anyone find this grave? Does the MI give any further information on his death/family?

Anything will help, I have no information about Richard Jones as an adult.
Thanks in advance.

US Lookup Requests / Richard Thomas b. Pennsylvania abt. 1877
« on: Wednesday 18 July 12 23:17 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone find the birth registration for Richard Thomas, father Griffith Thomas, mother Ellen Griffiths,  born about 1877 in Pennsylvania.
By February 1879 the family were back in Caernarvonshire, North Wales - Griffith Thomas died on 27th Feb 1879, Richard's brother William John Thomas was born 28th February - at Llandegai, Caernarvonshire.
Richard was living at Llanberis, Caernarvonshire with his mother's sister at the 1881 census, and his place of birth was recorded as Pennsylvania, USA.

I have also been unable to find the record for the marriage of Griffith Thomas and Ellen Griffith in the UK. It is possible that they married in the USA or in transit to the USA.

Any help in finding either of these records will be much appreciated. Thank you

Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Jenkins - Llantysilio & Llandynan
« on: Saturday 10 September 05 18:37 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help me find the Jenkinses of Llantysilio/Llandynan in census returns before 1871?
Father Thomas Jenkins - born abt. 1800; died Jan 12th 1869 at Vronhaul, Llantysilio.
His wife Margaret - born abt 1805 at Llandynan.
Children: Henry - born Sept 8, 1831, married Margaret Roberts (also from Llantysilio) in 1858.
Catherine - born May 19 1834
Isaac - born June 23 1836, died abt Aug 1843
Thomas - born abt. May 1841, married Elizabeth Francis (also from Llantysilio) in abt 1862
Isaac (again) - born Oct 27 1844, died 1918 at Johnstown,Wrexham.

Ancestry's 1861 census records seems to exclude these parishes. Is anything available on the 1841 and 1851 censuses?

Any help much appreciated.
