Anglesey Lookup Requests / Re: David owens
« on: Monday 12 July 21 20:08 BST (UK)  »
The index of Anglesey Death Registrations has:
David Owen d. 26 Jun 1876, age 32, at Pendre Street, Newborough. He was a warehouseman. The informant was Ann Williams, mother-in-law.

This looks like his marriage:
David Owens, 24, b, warehouseman of 89, Gray St, Stockport Rd, Manchester, son of coachman John Owens & Catherine Williams, 25, s, Pendre St, Newborough, dau. of labourer Richard Williams. At Newborough Church on 21 Oct 1867

Owen   Roberts   Grandson 5   Anglesey, Wales

This census has the birthplace of Owen Roberts as Llanfairisgaer - so Caernarvonshire. There is a marriage between James Roberts and Margaret Williams - A,M,J 1864 Carnarvon 11b 876 (civil Marriage) which could be connected.

According to the death register she died on 29 May 1869 at Gilfach Bach, age 30, and she was the wife of stonemason James Roberts. The informant was Mary Williams.

Denbighshire / Re: Two possible baptisms for Catherine

If you consider patronymics there may be a third possible baptism at Cerrigydrudion, although it is a bit late:

11 Sep 1764 - Catherine the daughter of Edward Robert of tun y pwll by Ellin his wife

This Catherine's brother - Jenkin, baptised Mar 1769 - is my 3xGt grandfather and used the patronymic Jenkin Edwards

...Also when you were referring to Edward being the possible son of Evan and Jane Pool, did you mean his wife was from Mynydd? And if so, is this referring the area of Mynydd in Snowdonia or the village in Flintshire?

I think "of Is Mynydd" in the baptism records refer to both Evan and Jane Pool living in Is Mynydd (or Ismynydd?) in Llanycil parish, Merionethshire. It is mentioned here:

Is this a possibility? Both Ancestry and FindmyPast have three baptisms in Llanycil parish, Merionethshire for Edward the son of Evan Pool and Jane his wife of Is Mynydd. The dates are 9 Feb 1775, 19 Apr 1778, 3 Jul 1779.

In the same parish there are burials for Edward, son of Evan Pool & Jane, on 30 Apr 1778 and 23 May 1775.

Wales / Re: What happened to Mary Grace?

The Anglesey birth registration for Mary Grace Fletcher - "born on a train between stations" - 29 May 1928, has father Charles William Fletcher, mother Bridget O'Dwyer, which contradicts the information you have. There is an additional note to say the family were from Woolwich.

Charles William and Bridget Fletcher are in Woolwich in 1939 but without Mary Grace or any other children. Also present are Dennis Dwyer (perhaps Bridget's brother?) and three other adults.

I hope I haven't deepened the mystery

Hi Momar, welcome to RootsChat

... Ellen Jones married Lewis Jones around 1872, not surprisingly rather difficult to locate marriage and birth certificates as some are not yet online and Ellen Jones was a very common name....

I've managed to find the birth registrations of the children and the marriage between Lewis Jones and Ellen.

Robert b. 20 May 1872, Pentraeth, the son of Lewis Jones and Ellen (nee) Jones. The following were all born to Lewis Jones and Ellen Jones at Llanfechell:
Hugh - 30 Jan 1875, John Lewis - 3 Sep 1877, Lewis - 27 Jan 1880, James - 24 Aug 1882, William Henry - 23 Sep 1885.

The marriage took place at Llanfflewyn Church on 5 Sep 1871 between Lewis Jones, f, b, servant, Gwannydog, son of Robert Jones, farmer and Ellen Hughes, f, s, Gwannydog, dau. of Hugh Jones, farmer.
The marriage is on FindMyPast but Lewis has been trancribed as Lewin.

Lewis Jones died 20 Mar 1896 at Ysgellog, Amlwch, age 52. The informant was Robert Jones, son, also of Ysgellog.
