Australia / JOHN WHITE & SARAH ROBINSON
« on: Wednesday 27 July 16 07:28 BST (UK)  »
I am not having and luck with my research and hoping someone can assist. I have an ancestor Robert John White and he was born in Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland in about 1835 and his parents were John White and Sarah Robinson.
I am trying to find out what happened to John & Sarah. Did they come to Australia with Robert? No luck with passenger lists either for Robert, but he married a Mary Jane Robinson (Parents Francis Robinson & Margaret Murray) on 25 April 1859 in Goulburn, NSW. Mary Jane was born on 2 April 1840 in Adelaide, South Australia.
I would appreciate any help in finding any details for John & Sarah.

Australia / Marie Elizabeth MORROW
« on: Wednesday 25 May 16 05:40 BST (UK)  »
I have a situation where Maree, a cousin of my wife, is looking for her birth mother as she was adopted out just after birth. She paid someone to do a search, cost a lot of money with no result, and was told that her file was missing or been destroyed. I said I would see if I could assist and she said that she was told by her life mother before she died, that she was born on 2 July 1956 as Nicole Ann Morrow at Darlinghurst in Sydney and that her birth mother was very young and named Marie Morrow.
I started searching and the only Marie Morrow I could find was a Marie Elizabeth Morrow, born 8 November 1939, which if she is the mother, would have been about 17 at the time. She was likely a student nurse at the time as I found in the 1958-1962 Electoral Rolls she was living at the RPA Hospital. The fact that she was living at the hospital, might indicate that she was from a country town instead of the city. In October 1962 she married a William Foster Thompson in Sydney. He was a Medical Practitioner. From 1968 on, they were living in Wagga Wagga, NSW and had six children. Marie died on 20 November 2004 and William died in 2013, both in Wagga Wagga.
I also need to say that my grandmother on my mother's side was a Morrow and I am interested, apart from the above, in seeing if there is a connection. However the information I found on Ancestry.com showed that Marie's parent's were unknown. I am unable to source her Birth & Death certificates because of the time frames. I have searched Trove for any newspaper articles without success.
Would love to see if we can confirm of delete Marie Elizabeth Morrow as the birth mother, and to investigate further who her parents were. Hoping someone can assist.

Regards,
Peter

Australia / Catherine CONDON
« on: Tuesday 19 April 16 02:34 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to help a friend confirm what she believes is her great grand mother, Catherine Condon. She has been unable to find confirmation of her arrival in Australia around the middle to late 1840's and her marriage to a John Thomas Sullivan about 1848 in Sydney. They had a son Thomas Sullivan in Dapto, NSW in 1848 and she said John died in 1855, and Catherine remarried in 1857 to a John Duggan. Catherine died in 1885 aged 72 (B: C. 1813) and is buried in the Breadalbane Cemetery, NSW
She believes that Catherine is the sister of Ellen Condon who married Michael Drew in Kilmalock, Limerick in 1840 and they were sponsored to Australia and arrived on the "Eleanor' in August 1841. Ellen & Michael are also buried in Breadalbane Cemetery, Ellen died in 1876 aged 64 (B:1812), but according to her death certificate, she was aged 60 meaning she was born about 1816. However her Immigration sheet showed she was 21 years in 1841, making her birth date of about 1820. Her parents were both deceased before coming to Australia.
The connecting thing of Ellen & Catherine would be that both their mother's name was Mulqueen, and we know Ellen's mother was Ellen Mulqueen. I have tried searching for the unknown details about Catherine and came up blank. hoping someone can assist.

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Richard RICHARDSON
« on: Saturday 16 April 16 07:26 BST (UK)  »
Hope someone can provide the link for me.
I have a ancestor Richard Richardson who married Isabella Armstrong in the September Quarter 1850 in Darlington, Yorkshire. (Freebdm 24/69). I haven't been able to go back further to confirm who his parents were, but I would like to see if his father was a Richard Richardson who was a surveyor also in Darlington. I have found where a Richard & Isabella Richardson immigrated to Australia in December 1852 on the 'Minnesota' to Victoria.  Hope we can make a connection or at least find who his and Isabella's parents were.

Australia / James John RICHARDSON
« on: Monday 11 April 16 07:12 BST (UK)  »
i am trying to trace the ancestors of a member of our family tree without success and hope someone can assist. The family member is Kevin James Richardson, and what I know is that he was born on 2nd August 1930 in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia, and died on 6th September 1997 in Canberra, ACT, Australia. I believe his parents were James John Richardson and Emily Armstrong. I have tried the VIC BDM for a marriage of James & Emily, but nothing there popped up. Possible they were married overseas and arrived as immigrants but that showed nothing on Freebdm. Hope you can help.
