Hi,

I believe that this may aslo be my  line. Daniel Callaghan  s/o Owen of coolcross  sometimes Culcross, Clonmany emmigrated to Australia 1885. On arrivial stated he had a brother John then living in Tamworth. I am in UK now and wont be back to Australia to early June. I have more information - happy to share. I also note that in 1868 John VIGORS of Jerry Plains held the contract for the postal line 'Singleton and Jerry's Plains via Cockfighter's Creek and in time of flood via Thorley's' . Run was three times a week on horseback for which he was paid £60.0.0 pa.

In 1885:-


John Vigers of Jerrys Plains, Singleton held 50acres with 30 horses   20 cows and 5   pigs.

M. A. LAMONT of 'Putney', Ryde , Sydney had four and a half acres, one horse and one cow.

Federal Directory of Newcastle 1901 has the following:-

William PYKE, fettler of Hampden Ave., Adamstown.

Thats the only PYKE in the directory , but there are many many PIKEs.

There is no LINDALE or variation there of in the Federal Directory for Newcastle 1901. I also note that 'plasters' were often 'bricklayers'.  htioi

Not exactly what you are looking for but may be of interest.

In 1885 Hy. READING held 2400 acres at his holding 'Ironbark' in Tamworth police district and PO town of Barraba  where he had 26 horses, 30 head of cattle  342 sheep and two pigs!
