Hi Julie

According to the Peter Drummond book, Placenames of the Monklands, Graham Street in Airdrie was named after a provost, although there is no additional information on any dates or christian names.

I'm sure that if you emailed the local history section of Airdrie library, they may be able to provide some further detail.

regards,

It was in the 1881 census

If it's of any assistance there is a Luggiebank Cottage listed in Coatbridge in the census lists for Old Monkland middle district (652-2) enumeration district 8.

There is the Luggie Burn which flows through parts of Coatbridge and was the cause of flooding on numerous occasions over the years, mainly in the Low Coats and Dundyvan areas of Coatbridge, I believe that parts of the burn now run through underground pipes.

I haven't heard of any area in Coatbridge called Luggiebank, but it would seem possible that your Great Grandparents cottage would have been close to the Luggie burn.
