Flintshire / Re: Butterton, Flintshire

Many thanks for that William.

That answers one of my queries. I have just been looking at the Clwyd FHS website from the link on here and have decided to invest in a few transcriptions myself.

I find that the family is more in Flintshire the further I go back.

Anything I can find really William.

I thought Mary was baptised in Ellesmere at first. She gives her birthplace as Northwood in one census and I did find two brothers, John Taylor and Thomas Taylor baptised there.
One gives the mother as Ermine and the other Emma but after looking at the baptism records yesterday, I think 'Emma' is Ermine.

I have just found Mary's baptism on the IGI.

Thats all I know apart from a few census records.

Are there any more children? When did Ermine die? I know it was before 1841 and probably before 1837 as I cannot find a death registration for her.

Too many questions!
Where to find the answers. I cannot access much at the Archives here (Shropshire) as Overton is just that bit over the border and I have not ventured this side before.

Any help or advise will be very welcome thanks

Flintshire / Butterton, Flintshire
« on: Friday 05 January 07 20:24 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking at the family of a Mary Ann Butterton baptised 1829 Penley Flintshire, Father John and Mother Ermine.

She marries a Samuel Morgan from Overton in 1853, their daughter Martha being my Great Grandmother.

Does anyone else have any links to this family, or can someone point me in the right direction to where I may be able to view some parish records.

Shropshire / Re: TOMPKINS/PEAKE Family - Dudleston

Hi William,

No Tompkins or Peake in my lot yet.

Just to say that don't rule out James just yet.
My GGrandfather was born in 1872 and his mother was born 1826. So its not unheard of.

Great photographs William.

I have enjoyed looking through them all and getting a glimpse of where my Grandmother's family came from.

Thanks for the link

Hi Cher,

I just checked out the 1851 census and found the same information as s.g.d.
James Clorley was schoolmaster and his wife schoolmistress.

How is your Cooke research going?
I still cannot get mine away from Myddle.

Caernarvonshire Lookup Requests / Re: Parish records look up

Many thanks for your time looking that up for me Dolgellau, I do appreciate it and although no answers, I can rule out a baptism there anyway. The family in Ludlow are not connected to mine, at least not that I know of as yet!

My mother is a Howell  but my Betton connection comes from my Father's line. His Gran was Emma Lewis from Pennerley in Shropshire. She was the daughter of  Thomas and Elizabeth Lewis nee Betton.

Elizabeth would be my GGGrandmother. She was the daughter of William Betton.

Caernarvonshire Lookup Requests / Parish records look up
« on: Wednesday 23 August 06 21:11 BST (UK)  »
I am hoping that someone may be able to help me with regards to a look up from parish records.
I would normally order a birth certificate for this but have so far been unable to find one. Sadly 'my lot' did not always register their children's births.

I have an Ursula Howells born c 1848 in Dwygyfylchi, Caernarvonshire. In both 1851 and 1861 she is living in Shrewsbury Shropshire with her Grandparents. In 1861 she is transcribed as 'wsala'.

I am hoping to find out her parents names. At the moment I am not sure if she is a daughter to my direct line or a niece.

Its a bit of a long shot, but any help or pointers in the right direction would be great!

Thanks Allie

Richard and Ann have moved to Fitz by 1901. Not far from where I live!

They are on their own and his occupation is given as a wood ranger
