Hi Tiktok,

All it gives is a labourer.
I'll have a look to see if there is anything else in 1901

Hi Tiktok

There is a John Hotchkiss born 1884 in Condover which is near to Stapleton.

Father is Richard aged 37, born Church Stretton. Mother Ann, 43, born Pontesbury.
There are 6 children all born in Condover, Harriet 16, Alice 11, Richard 9, John 6, Emma 2, Edith 6mths.
There is a visitor with them, Richard Beedles 29 born Berrington.

This might confuse things more but it seems the closest match

Apologies for the late reply, but I have only just seen this!

Where was your Sarah Howells from in Shropshire?

I do try to go at least once a month now. Sometimes I can get there more often..depends on work!

If you want anything checking out, just send me a pm and I'll see what I can do

Hi Ggrocott,

I went this morning and managed to have a quick check on this for you.

Wellington All Saints    P291/385 Marriages July 1780-May 1781

Richard Powis and Sarah Thomas, both of this parish, married in this church by banns this 16th day of April 1781.

Both signed with a mark.

The witnesses were Samuel Lammers? possibly Lammels and Johnathan Tayleur.

Johnathan Tayleur was a witness at most on this page so I'm inclined to think he was a parish clerk or something. Not much for you to go on with I'm afraid

Hi Gwendoline,

Many thanks for doing this. I am not sure if you will find anything though as she was not buried in Llandyssil.

Her name was Sarah Howell and the family must have brought her back to Welshampton, Shropshire to be buried as I found this information in the parish records there.

I do wonder if there was a family member living in Llandyssil that I don't know about.

Anything that you may find would be great though

Montgomeryshire / Llandyssil help needed
« on: Friday 10 February 06 14:34 GMT (UK)  »
Is there anyone here who has local knowledge of Llandyssil.

I have recently discovered that my GGGrandmother died in Llandyssil at Hasthorn House in 1917. She was 92.
I have no idea why she would have been in Llandyssil as all her family were still living in North Shropshire.
Is this house still there and could it have been some sort of nursing home?

Any help would be very welcome
