But it was County Tipperary not Wexford ??? ???

So is Antho or however it is spelt a local variation for the name of Anne or do I just give up and write it as seen

No wonder I asked for expert advice and opinion.

John and Anne had the illigit son and Catherine who had 2 illigit sons with John's brother Thomas was the sponsor. it's the stuff of novels.

Well this has thrown me again. Catherine Gleeson the mother. That means she had sons to brothers of the same family.

Hallmark and Heywood many thanks. This closes the case. I now have to fit Anthony in. Just one final absolute clarification Anthony illigit son of John Jnr. Mother NOT known(?) Sponsors Antonio(?) Maher and Catherine Gleeson.

Cheers for that Hallmark.  It makes sense in that Cata the sponsor had a relationship with this family...an intriguing relationship but there was a connection

Now it makes more sense. John Jnr had an illegitimate son Anthony. There were a few of them.
Cata the sponsor was in fact also a mother to at least two. Now it begins to fall into place
