Do you know how to select a portion, and paste and copy it.  I don't seem to be able to do so ??
Wyanga

Hi Wyanga !

Position the article needed so that its in the centre of your computer screen, then click on the “PrtSc” button at the top of your keyboard.   On the bottom left of the screen, click on the round start button..., this opens a variety of options, choose “Paint.”   When the Paint window opens, click on paste, (the screen’s image will then appear in the Paint window..., click and hold the image to reposition it) then click save.   :)

Thanks Bob !

Concerning the http://www.ambaile.org.uk/en/newspapers/index.jsp ..., I received a message saying;
“Dear Am Baile User
Due to the popularity of our newspaper scanning service through the Am Baile web site, we are in the unfortunate position of having a large back log of requests. We apologise for the delay and will forward ASAP.
Thank you for your patience
Inverness Reference Library”   ..., as such and so far, this looks genealogically-honest !!

Concerning all the other newspapers..., what’s needed in fact is someone with some time on their hands to turn page by page and note every name, date and a name-page-reference.     Genealogists could then in turn surf the names and journalistic-incidents, and simply add them to their census information.
As simple as one, two and three..., for as long as they don’t make you pay. (counting principally on Google advertising as an income)

In the meantime and with only a few hours reading the Glasgow Herald of 1820 with its financial, hospital, legal and social “news” ..., it simply pushed me to provide a wink and a smile for all our long-gone ancestors.   ;)

PS  This "business proposal" could be in relation to other, entrepreneurs..., who might be interested in the same entrepreneurial plan.   Things would then go twice-as-fast !   Simply “advertise” or post on RootsChat !

Hi again Andy..., darned if I can find any Scottish newspapers on that site despite it being jam packed with information for our American and Canadian friends.   However, it did push me to look for others and I found this: http://www.ambaile.org.uk/en/newspapers/index.jsp   I ordered one clip concerning Campbeltown employment in 1817..., so I’ll have to wait and see !

Also Wikipedia provided this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:List_of_online_newspaper_archives and here I found Scottish newspapers..., including the Scotsman;
http://archive.scotsman.com/edition.cfm?id=TSC/1817/01/25

It’s quite interesting reading their 6-page sample copy from 1817.

Hi Monica !   Looks as if I’m an Internet recluse..., never venture further than RootsChat Argyll !  ;)

A few years ago on another site, I asked everyone to empty their attics of old newspapers and scan or photograph the contents.   Nobody replied..., so that was the reason I was so pleased with the NA site.

To contradict what I said earlier and from experience, you’re allowed 3 newspapers before everything goes fuzzy..., but closing and reopening does provide further access.

It’s absolutely amazing reading those pages.  Pity here’s nothing for Argyllshire !

If this post has already been published, please forgive me.

When I listened to the BBC report about this archive..., I said to myself that it's surely another trick to push you to enter the National Archives Internet site, before asking for money for any information transfer.

But it’s all free !    Just been reading some Edinburgh pages from 1800 I think and in places it even goes back to 1600 !

MODIFICATION:   Ooops !!   Just knew there would be a snag !   You're allowed 3 pages before being invited to pay-up !!

Sur is Sancti..., with Davar Island and its lighthouse. (one of the few islands in Scotland where during low tide you can walk over to visit it.)
