Could anyone help me, or point me in the right direction, to find the burial of Abel HARVEY who died on 4th December 1905. I have identified the area as Kensington and Chelsea but don't know where to look next. Thanks.

Hertfordshire / Apsley 1911 census records
« on: Monday 10 May 21 10:59 BST (UK)  »
Another COOK related query! I have found Herbert George COOK and his wife, Florence Annie, in the 1911 census on FindMyPast but cannot find them on Ancestry (on their next door neighbours). Is it me or does Ancestry have some records missing?

Hertfordshire / COOK at Leverstock Green 1851-1861
« on: Saturday 08 May 21 12:03 BST (UK)  »
Hello, I can find baptisms online for Leverstock Green but not burials. Can anyone help? I am looking for burials from 1851-1861 for members of the COOK family.

In addition the abode is given (for some of the baptisms) as Bel Colney. Can anyone tell me where Bel Colney is?

Buckinghamshire / Mysterious address
« on: Friday 05 June 20 14:33 BST (UK)  »
On a birth certificate issued in 1851 the place of birth and the residence of the child and mother is given as (quite clearly) "Canal Wycombe".

The registration district is Wycombe and the Registrar's district is High Wycombe.

Can anyone shed any light on this address ?

Cambridgeshire / OTT against entries in Parish Records
« on: Wednesday 18 March 20 15:02 GMT (UK)  »
I have on microfiche transcripts of the parish records of St Mary's, Swaffham Prior. These were transcribed by the Cambridgeshire Family History Society. Looking for marriages recently I came across many entries ( I was looking at the early part of the 19th century) which are marked OTT, or both OTT. I am quite familiar with OTP but can anyone help me with the meaning of OTT please?

Thank you,

Bedfordshire / IRELAND family who should be in Luton in 1939
« on: Monday 02 December 19 07:22 GMT (UK)  »
Leonard Charles Ireland married Winifred Maud Tompkins in the second quarter of 1929 in the Luton registration district.

Leonard was born on 14th August 1905 and Winifred on 15th March 1907, both in Luton - sources 1911 census and dates of birth recorded at death.

I believe that they had a son in 1930. Obviously he may well still be alive so I cannot name him.

Leonard and Winifred both died in 1993. I believe that they were still in Luton. Their deaths were registered in the Luton registration district.

I cannot find them in 1939, however hard I try. I appreciate that Leonard may have signed up but I should be able to find Winifred. Has anyone any ideas, please ?

Buckinghamshire / Rose GODFREY, born 20th April 1880 at Aylesbury.
« on: Saturday 30 November 19 12:07 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone come up with a bright idea on this one, please ?

Rose Godfrey was born in Aylesbury on 20th April 1880 at Aylesbury. She was the daughter of George Godfrey and Elizabeth Margaret Godfrey, née Simms. She was baptised at St Mary's on 8th February 1857. The Godfrey family were slow to baptise their offspring !

She appears at home in 1881 and 1901 and in 1891 she is in Luton with her mother visiting Mr and Mrs Pope at 18 Cardigan Street.

In the 1911 census she is no longer at home. She married in the fourth quarter of 1910 in the Aylesbury registration district.

On the same page there are only two other names. These are William Chapman and Annie E Eeles. Of course, I may well be wrong, but I think these two married each other and I can find them in the 1911 census.

So who did Rose marry and why cannot I find her in 1911 ?

Having married late in 1910 she and her husband would not have completed any full years of marriage so the entry in that column should be 'under one'.

As she is a fairly distant relative I do not wish to pay for a marriage certificate unless I absolutely have to.

Any ideas will be gratefully received. I have spent many hours searching to no avail. Those of you who have helped me in the past will now know how difficult some of my Simms ancestors and their descendants can be !
