New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: passenger lists
« on: Thursday 23 July 09 22:10 BST (UK)  »
Many Thanks Lu and Althea - interesting link. :)

The "Wild Deer" sailed from Greenock to Otago (Dec 6th 1873 - Mar 9th 1874)
Mrs Catherine BOWMAN - and her daughters on board. I am guessing that husband Richard was already there and had applied for "guaranteed immigration" for his family and probably had to pay passage money - which must have been quite a lot for a large family. The family were Irish - not sure whether that makes a difference :-\. And I think Richard worked on the railway (engine driver) so maybe the railway people encouraged immigration.

Cornwall Lookup Requests / Re: SANDOE Kenwyn 1755 baptism
« on: Saturday 31 May 08 15:26 BST (UK)  »
Hi Kris, Thank you for your reply :)

Yes, I`m finding this line very challenging!
Mary married David HAMBLY and the children I have for them are:
Mary 1775
Honour 1777 (d.1781)
Honour 1782(d. 1786)
Elizabeth 1786
David John 1789
William 1792
John 1796  - I am descended from John - I am confident of my research from him through to the present day as I have certificates etc.
Dee?poss around 1800?

This is all information given to me by a researcher cousin which, I believe, came from books and notes etc handed down through the family.
I have been in touch recently with two other researchers (possible distant cousins) who have varying information so I`m not even sure we are all talking about the same Anthony.
Still, I would like to try and untangle things a bit. I have had so much success with lots of other branches but I don`t really know where to start with this one.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Looking for batism info on

Mary SANDOE b 1755 Kenwyn Parish. I believe her father was Anthony SANDOE.

Just wondering if there might be more info on her parents or any siblings. There appear to be a lot of Anthony Sandoe`s so just trying to untangle them a bit!

Would be very grateful if anyone can help
Thank you

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Help with birth/bapt/marr Sileby,Loughborough Mntsrrl

Please can you help me untangle a family. I have a theory that there was a marriage between first cousins, but first I need to confirm that I have the correct people.

The three bits of info I need are:

1. Sarah WARD bpt 9 oct 1806 Loughborough & Mountsorrel presbyterian.
(need to confirm her parents - I am hoping they are Thomas WARD and Sarah GOODRICH of Sileby or nearby)

2. William James WARD b. 1808 Sileby poss baptised at Loughborough and Mountsorrel Presbyterian (I am hoping he will have the same parents as the Sarah above).

3. Thomas WARD and Sarah GOODRICH marriage 11 dec 1804 Rothley?

If my theory is correct Thomas Ward and Sarah Goodrich both had siblings who married each other and had a son who married Sarah Ward - his cousin (child of the above Thomas and Sarah).

The info I have supplied is from the igi via the internet but hopefully more info is available from other records.
I am also basing my theory on info from two wills and the census.

Thomas Ward may have been married before so its possible Sarah Goodrich may not be the mother of one or both of these children.
The areas the Ward and Goodrich families were living in at the time are: Sileby, Wigston, Thornton...

It would be fantastic if someone could help me with this as this family have been confusing me for years and this is the best (only) explanation I have been able to come up with.

Oh Mike that would be fantastic  ;D ;D What a very kind offer, Thank you.

William Goodrich is my 4xggrandfather and his wife is called Mary. I just need to know that I have the correct William and Mary - I am pretty sure her maiden name is Whiteman but need confirmation.

My William is from Wigston and his father is also William from Wigston. In wills they are referred to as William jnr and William the elder.

Both Williams have brothers called Ebenezer but in this instance we are talking about Wm jnr and Ebenezer jnr (married to Lucy Davenport)

Thank you so much
Happy New Year
