Just to add we were also told he may have been in the Air Force so that fits too! 😁

Guys thank you!
The only info I've had to go on is that he was born early 1900s (1905-1910 maybe?) probably in England, lived in Sydney, fathered a child which he chose to have no contact with (who I am doing this search on behalf of) and he definitely had a wife by the mid/late 1940s and it is unlikely they had any children as they were looking to adopt. I do not know the wife's name so could be Myrtle?
The ages all fit with the info you have kindly provided and also the lack of any other recorded Charles Higginsons in that area and time.
I shall have to keep digging and check out the English connections you gave me.
Thank you.

Thank you Linda_J, msr, Jebber

I have not really made any of my research public in case it gets "hijacked" but at the same time I feel i could be preventing myself from making a valuable connection or helping another researcher.

Susan, I think I would definitely contact the large tree owner - names are one thing, but photos and your original comments are entirely different.

thank you davidft and Maggie1895 for your replies  :)

David, I`m glad you at least achieved some amendments!

I try to be as meticulous in my research as I can and would always be able to cite my sources if asked. I do know how easy it can be to make mistakes, but it does trouble me when others don`t take the same care - particularly with my ancestors. Goodness, doesn`t this subject make me grumpy!  ;)

Yes, you are right - there might be an unexpected bonus to be gained.

The Common Room / Incorrect trees
« on: Sunday 13 November 11 13:28 GMT (UK)  »
I have, several times, found trees on the internet (ancestry public members trees as well as other other sites) where the info is incorrect. I have even seen my own grandparents "fitted" into trees they have no connection to!

My question is, what is the correct ettiquette in these situations?

Do I attempt to gently and respectfully tackle the "owner"?

If I don`t the problem may get spread and repeat itself - if I do, is it going to be more trouble than it`s worth?

What does everyone else do? I would love to hear your views as its starting to wind me up now!!! ::)
