Ireland / Dowds/Doud/Dodds & Beattie

Hello,

I am trying to trace Thomas Dowds/Douds/Dodds and Rose Beattie. The information I have comes from a poor record.

Thomas Dowds was born around 1790 in Ireland, he married Rose Beattie from Dungannon and they have my 3xGt Granda William in 1812 in Bishop St Belfast.

William marries Rose McFall in Derry in 1827.

I have been round in circles for years trying to trace Rose McFall and Williams siblings and also Thomas and Rose Beattie family.

The dates of Williams Birth and marriage come from the poor Register. I have most things from William and Rose from 1827 but nothing before.

If anyone could give me any help it would be most appreciated

Census and Resource Discussion / Cannot find them on SP

Hi,

I think I may have found my family on Ancestry for the 1871 Census But! The Surname is wrong, I suspect that it is an Ancestry transcription error again!

This is what is on Ancestry

Margaret Mary   Under 1 M

My family are called Travers, but all the other names and dates fit. I have tried to get the 1871 census on SP but the surnames that I gave do not bring up anything and you can no longer search without a surname.

I was hoping to see the original transcript to see where Helen Glacken Travers was born in Ireland.

The family are in Greenock for the 1871 census.

Any help greatly appreciated

Hi,

I have recently traced my 3x gt Grandparents to Leighlinbridge.

Edward Foley married Margaret Doyle and they had a son Patrick Foley in May 1841, my 2x gr Grandfather. I cannot find anymore information on my family, can anyone help, are they in your family tree?

Hello All,

Will Ancestry never learn? I am on the new ancestry site which is being rolled out to all, and I could chuck a brick at the computer, not only has the colour changed but it is pick up my family details and showing them wrongly.

I have relatives who lived on Wellington St Greenock, Ancestry has picked it up and shows Wellington New Zealand!!, another lived in Perth Scotland, this has now become Perth Australia, another died in Greenock, which has now become Greenock Pennsylvania, when you go into each individually the details are still correct, but when looking at them as a highlight of a relatives details they are wrong.

Has anyone else come across this?

Derry (Londonderry) / Dowds, Altragelvin, Derry

Hello,

I am trying to get information on my Dowds family, I sent off for a death certificate and was very lucky that it was the correct one. Rose Dowds ms McFall died on 7 Dec 1887 in Altragelvin, the informant was her daughter Ellen.

I have no idea what happened to Ellen after this, she was born in 1846 and was a seamstress. I also cannot find Rose or Ellen on census.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction.

Renfrewshire / Meechan/Park

Hello,
Me again.

I have Patrick Meechan marry Janet (Jessie) Park in Greenock in 1872, He is 35 and she is 22, they marry according to the Church of Scotland, all their children married in a RC church.

The problem is that on his marriage cert Patrick says that he is a Batchelor and his parents are Bernard Meechan (Farmer) and Ann River.

On his death cert in 1885 it has Janet as his second wife and a Catherine Kelly as his first wife. It also states that his father is Bryan Meechan (Painter)and his mother Roseann Devine. The person that gave the information is his wife Janet Meechan

I am totally confused, I obviously have come across slight differences in certificates, I have hundreds, but this has totally thrown me.

Can anyone help??

Hello,

I have been trying to find a marriage of George Sweeney and Mary McMurray, according to their childs birth cert in Scotland they married in Fermanagh in 1848, They were in Scotland by 1851. The only parent that I have is Edward Sweeney who is George's father.

They had one son born in Ireland that I am aware of and that is Edward born in 1849

Any help would be great

Lancashire / George Donnelly

Hello,
Can anyone please help me?

I am looking for information on George Donnelly b 1862 Wellington Somerset, he marries in Liverpool, I am not sure of the date as I cannot find a marriage cert, although his oldest son William is born in 1889. As far as I can see there is one other son Edward born 1890. By 1901 his wife Mary and the children are Boarders in Liverpool and she is a widow.

I cannot find Mary's maiden name anywhere, although she is born in Liverpool abt 1866. I have no idea who George's parents are, although I have searched everywhere for all the above information.

Any help would be wonderful
