Charles John Curtis was the brother of a husband of one of my Clewes ladies. I can't find info on his brother, Thomas A. Curtis so I am hoping he may be mentioned in his brother's obituary.

Charles John Curtis was a retired minister who was born 1850 and died in Leeds County on Feb 14 1937. On the death cert. it says he died in the Brockville General hospital and his home was in Athens, ON.

Any help is appreciated!

Canada / Toronto obituary help

I am looking for any obituary for Robert John Thomas, his wife Catherine and / or their son John Robert Thomas.

I know its a long shot ..... but any help is appreciated.

Robert John Thomas died in 1987 and is buried at Pine Hills. I have contacted the cemetery but they have no information. According to his sister Harriet's will, Robert John lived on Floyd Ave. in Toronto.

I have no info on his wife Catherine (Katherin) or son J.R. Thomas.

Again, any help is so appreciated.

Sligo / Sligo Asylum
« on: Saturday 11 May 19 23:12 BST (UK)  »
Hello.  I have just found the death registration of Jane Higginson who died at the Sligo Asylum.  It looks like the informant was "inmate" and the cause of death was "mania". Can someone confirm?
Are there any records for the Sligo Asylum? Would like to find out how long she was there. Also, she and her family were from the Leitrim area ... is Sligo the closest for an asylum?  Thanks!

Northumberland / General history help - Newcastle on Tyne
« on: Tuesday 05 March 19 17:23 GMT (UK)  »
Hello
I have 2 families who came to Newcastle on Tyne between 1891 and 1901. They are both families of blacksmiths and one family came from Edinburgh and the other from Millport!

I am wondering about any social history in the area at the is time.  Was it a time of economic boom ? was there a need for many blacksmiths? It makes me wonder why my people would travel so far for a job ...

Can anyone enlighten me?

The families are Craigs and Sommervilles
