Buckinghamshire / Francis Wingfield b c.1794 Bromley
« on: Tuesday 22 February 11 13:59 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Im trying to cross-ref a potential ancestor Francis Wingfield (variants of name Winfield/Windfield/Winkfield)

On Ancestry there are a few people who have him born in Bromley but he was married in Fulmer, Bucks and  on the 1841 census it states he was born in Bucks. His family all live in Bucks but the other Ancestry people have his death in Lincolnshire

He was a shepherd or an agricultural labourer which would have meant that he would stuck around one area, rather than moving around counties

The only records I have are Pallots Marriage index for 1821 in Bucks and the 1841 Census

Does anyone have any local Bucks resources available that I could use to decipher if he was from Kent or Bucks?

Many thanks

Monmouthshire / Wedding news - Old Newport newspapers 1879
« on: Sunday 23 January 11 11:45 GMT (UK)  »
Hi. I may be clutching at straws but my GG Grandfather Alfred Winfield married Priscilla Comley 20 Aug 1879 and I have a copy of the marriage cerificate but my research into Alfreds earlier family ends with him.

Many pointers show that he may have been illegitimate, but I am really struggling to get his mothers name

Would there be any inserts in local papers of the time with details of the marriage "Alfred son of etc"

His address is shown as 29 Victoria Crescent Newport and he is a sailor

They were married at the Register Office "in the district of Newport"

From other census it seems he originally came from Windsor, Berkshire but I cant find any birth details. Really stuck and any help appreciated!

Berkshire / Alfred Winfield born c.1851

Hi. My GG Grandfather Alfred Winfield was born in Windsor, Berkshire between 1851 and 1853. There is a discrepancy between the 1881 census and his marriage certificate in 1879!

On his marriage certificate (to Priscilla Comley) his father is lsted as David Winfield (deceased) and witnessed by Albert Winfield

But I cant find any trace of David Winfield or Albert Winfield

Any help appreciated
