Cheshire Lookup Requests / Prestbury churchyard
« on: Saturday 17 July 10 07:48 BST (UK)  »
Does anybody know if the headstones in Prestbury churchyard are viewable anywhere?
They're not on 'wishful thinking' which I have found great for some parishes especially in Derbyshire.

I'm looking for the LANE family who were farmers around there for generations.
I have: All at Prestbury.
John Lane died 1900 and wife Ann  (nee Burgess) died 1896.
Robert Lane died 1857 and wife Elizabeth (nee Allman) died 1865 or 1869.
John Lane died 1838 and wife Hannah (nee Jackson) died 1846.
Robert Lane died 1809 and his wife Betty (nee Brown).

The generations then go back Robert (and Mary), John (and Ann), William, and Richard although I can not find the exact dates.

Any kind person taken any photographs? It would be great to see them in situ.

Thanks

Renfrewshire / 1841/51 Census Paisley- completed
« on: Friday 18 June 10 01:19 BST (UK)  »
Is there any kind person could look up
Millar Nicole on the 1841 Census for me please? It has taken me  a long time to find him, as on all other records it says Miller Nicol.
I'm not sure of the 1841 Census for Scotland gives occupations, and exact places of birth, but on his son James' marriage certificate in 1857 it says weaver, living at Mary Street.
I have
Millar Nicole age 30 , born about 1808
Margret  30
Walter  11
John  9
James 7
Janet  4
Isabella 1

I can't find him on the 1851 census (trying all permutations of the name) - at least not with a birth near 1808.
He is still alive 1857 at son James marriage. (James' wife's father IS given as deceased).

Thanks very much in advance :)

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Burgess Prestbury/Macclesfield
« on: Saturday 29 May 10 08:16 BST (UK)  »
Looking for Samuel Burgess - a baker in Macclesfield (or Prestbury) at his daughter Ann's wedding in 1852 to John Lane at Macclesfield St Michaels.
I think I have him in the 1841 Census at Macclesfield, Bollington, and the 1851 Census at Macclesfield, Alderley but would be great to confirm if he is a baker in either of these places. And also who is still living with him at these dates.
Can't  find him in any Trade Directories.

There are many families of Burgess around here - all very confusing!  :P

Thanks very much

Family History Beginners Board / Oxton Bloxham
« on: Saturday 22 May 10 01:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi everybody

New to this!

I have come across some of my ancestors in the 1841 Census of Macclesfield who give their place of birth as Oxton Bloxham (well, presumably that's what the census taker thought that's what they said!)
I can't find out where it is. Google maps don't know.
Anybody know where it is?
Prob Cheshire/Deryshire/ maybe even Staffordshire.

Thanks  :)
