Yes, they are confirmed there on the census, and Mary Steel's death certificate gives Mollance as her place of death. Will follow this thread with interest. Best wishes, Islay

Mollance was the family home of my g. Great aunt Marion(Neilson) and her niece Aunt Mary(Steel) for many years, and Aunt Mary died there in 1920. I have an extensive research on the family of Neilsons who were fascinating.. If I can help anyone, please ask. Likewise viewing any pictures of these places mentioned or photographs of family members would be most welcome by me as I have none.
Good luck to everyone in their searches. Best wishes, Islay

Hi SamMary and Zephyr,
John Neilson, brother of James Beaumont Neilson, was my ggg grandfather. I have done extensive research on the Neilson family but have no pictures of any of them or their properties. I shall follow this thread with great interest. Are we related in any way?

Thank you, Maiden Stone. Is it possible to see who is buried in St Quivox churchyard anywhere? It looks like that is the best bet. Thank you for your time, Islay.

I think almost certainly with the family link of interments already there. Thank you for the information which was interesting. Granny was actually born at Annbank Station where her father worked. Islay.

Thank you, Colin. I will try St Quivox again. My cousin thinks St Quivox was the right place, but could granny have been buried there and there be no record of her? I think there was a family lair where her parents and sister are.I would love to find her and given her an headstone if she has none. Thank you for your interest, Islay

Graveyards and Gravestones / Auchincruive cemetery

I wonder if anyone would be kind enough to find out if there is a cemetery at Auchincruive. My granny was brought up to Auchincruive in November 1962 for burial. I have asked previously to see if she is in the St Quivox churchyard where her parents are interred, but was disappointed that there was no sign of her.
She was Mary Harvey, born 1884 in Tarbolton, and her maiden name was McCracken. Her parents were Thomas and Mary McCracken.

Could anyone advise me how to proceed? My sister has just found a receipt that indicates her coffin was brought to Auchincruive. Are there any headstone records for there? I have already tried Ayr Cemeteries.

I would be most grateful if anyone could help me find where my granny lies. Many thanks, Islay

  Hallo again, SamMary,

I do not have your email address, sorry!  Not sure how to do these things privately as I am not very good with computers.

Hope you are enjoying your trip.

               Best wishes, Islay
