Thanks,
Is this a guess on John Farnell's parentage ? Or have you been able to confirmed him via marriage records to get his parents names? There are quite a few John Farnell's in the staffordshire area in the same years which is why I couldn't be certain with him.

Thankyou :)

I found records for Lydia. She married a William Morgan in Dudley Staffordshire 1879. I then found a record for Lydia Morgan Marring John Farnell in 1882. This is a simple entry off Ancestry.com
I still cant find it on the parish records though :(
I found a census record for her in both 1871 and 1881 - but nothing after.
John is proving difficult to find anything on  ???

Thank you both so much for the help  :)
Hopefully I can get some confirmed answers and trace the line back a little further now :)

Also his fathers occupation said blacksmith striker!
Think this may be right.
Can anyone shed light in which resources I can search for these? I never saw these in any resources I tried to use :(

Lydia/John could possibly be right... Maria Massey nee Howell had a sister called Lydia. Found a marriage record for a Lydia Morgan and John Farnell 1882 , also prior to that Lydia Howell marrying a Morgan?
Could possibly be the correct line...?

Hi,
I've tried checking marriages with no luck.
Not sure how to check the names against occupation via census ?
I've done general census checks though.
Thanks :)

Hi everyone!

I've become completely stuck on finding further information on my x2 great grandfathers parentage.
I received his marriage certificate - William Farnell (1884, born Wednesbury Darlaston) to Thirza Jenkins in 1907, Walsall. It lists his father as John Farnell (deceased, Blacksmith) and one of the witnesses was Maria Massey. Address 27 Perry Street Darlaston.
I found him in 1901 living with his Uncle William Massey and Aunt Maria Massey (nee Howell) So Im certain this is him. It also gives his sister as Ether (Esther? Ethel?) born 1894. They were living in Darlaston.

There is only one John Farnell I can find in the area (married to Ellen nee Poultney) Though I know this is incorrect as this John was alive in 1917 as next of kin to his son, William in Military Records - it also says William was married to an Annie Pinson. So this is clearly the wrong John Farnell as his father.

I've searched all possible records in many locations with variations and drawing a blank...

If anyone could help with I'd greatly appreciate it. I hope I haven't confused you too much with the info above ...
thanks :)

Hi there!
I know this is an old post, but William Pitchford is one of my Great Uncle's.
I see William had a son he named Albert Edwin- this is after his two brothers Albert and Edwin who were both killed in France in WW1, on the Western Front.
Feel free to message me if you'd like any information :)

Jamie has my email address, so feel free to contact me on there :)

Your stories are all knew to me, they are great to hear! My Nan doesn't know much about Arthur as he died before she was born I think, so it's great to hear these more personal stories!
It makes everything seem to fall into place a little more, and what type of a man he was.
Would love to chat more about it with you :)
