Bedfordshire / Help please!! Need to find anything on George Green
« on: Sunday 01 May 05 19:47 BST (UK) »
I really need some help to further my research on my 3xgt.grandfather George Green.
I have his marriage in 1830 to Ann Lweington nee Kitchiner, a widow.
I have him in 1841 living in Clifton with several children, including my 2x gt.grandfather William.
No trace on 1851 in Clifton. Can only assume they had both died between census as I found 2 of the children living with relations in receipt of parish relief.
I have been told the poor relief papers have been destroyed.
In the same village there was also a Samuel Green. This family had named one of their sons Warner. This appears to be a family name as my gt.grandfather also called one of his sons it.
As I am getting nowhere finding Georges place of birth and parents any help would be gratefully received
The Clifton registers have nothing. I have traced Ann to Ampthill.
But George is a different story. Thanks to stirling help by Criggy some areas have been crossed off. But on looking at the entry in 1851 for Samuel he has Southill for his place of birth, in 1861 Stanford.
I am hoping they may be brothers and if Samuels birth could be found Georges could also be there, a long shot but worth a go.
Also as Samuel had a farm employing several men wondered if a will could be located. Have looked online, no leads.
Anyone that could offer advice, a look up in the record office or anything would be wonderful.
Thanks Diane
