There was an offer for a look up in the West Surrey burials.

Could you have a look for Sheldrick please. Not having much luck, trying to see if this is where they originate grom. Seem to be going back and forth between Surrey and London.

Thanks  Diane

The Common Room / Struggling to find a birth
« on: Friday 16 July 04 17:31 BST (UK)  »

Aged 21 a boarder - occ plasterer. Croydon St. Johns. Birthplace Chelsea, Surrey
1881
Married to Ellen age 31 with two children (I have marr cert 1878)  plasterer, Lambeth Surrey. Birthplace London, Middlx.
1891
Age 42 still with Ellen  4 children. plasterer  birthplace London, Islington. Living Sainsbury Rd.,Lambeth. Norwood, Christchurch
1901
age 50 still with Ellen , plasterer. Birthplace London. living Sainsbury Rd., as before.

I thought I found a birth for him in 1849, but have received a credit from the GRO, although no official notification yet.

I thought I found a birth ref on FreeBMD for him a while back in 1851, but must have dreamt it. I've been through 1837 online and can only find this 1849 one.

On his marriage cert father down as John (Ships Steward),

I can't go any further until I find his birth. I have no idea of any siblings. Haven't had any luck with 1851/61 census yet.

Found a John Sheldrick in 1871 also a plasterer in another area of Croydon. Could be a brother maybe.

Help????? :-\

I have a few Oxfordshire lines.

Unable to locate them in 1851 at present.

Emma married John Durbidge in 1851 and Emma her daughter seems to have taken his name. As is on her marriage cert to William Foster in 1870.

Hoping to locate Emma's natural father at some point.

Also I have my maiden name Geden which originates from Warks, Oxf, Worc. area.

I have some going back to 1697 in Tysoe. Many variations of the name including, Gaydon, Gaden, Geaden. Amongst many others.

Areas include Adderbury, Bodicote, Banbury, Blackwell, Burmington.

Any connections get in touch

Berkshire / Anybody have Wallingford parish records.
« on: Sunday 30 May 04 10:22 BST (UK)  »
Can anybody please help with a marriage for a John Durbidge in Wallingford, I found one 1852 on 1837 online.

This family is proving to be very difficult.

I have him on 1841 census with parents John and Hannah aged 13.

Then nothing until 1871 in Horsham,Sussex. He was married to Emma (?) and had 7 children still living with him all born in various counties!

(My direct ancestor, his daughter Emma had married in 1870 in Nuthurst to William Foster.)

He died in 1873 in Nuthurst aged 47.

I really need some help and advice to find them in 1861, he had a child called Albert in c.1860 in Berks, but another called Joseph c.1858 in Oxf.

I found an IGI entry for a Joseph in Goring and thought a marriage there in c.1850 would be his. But I also found another John Durbridge b. in Goring so although the child could be his the marriage may not.

I have searched through 1843/52 for a marriage on 1837 online and only found one in 1852 Wallingford. This I'm dubious with as Emma was 22 on her marriage cert. in 1870. I realise people didn't always marry before having children.

Any help gratefully received, as I'm beginning to pull my hair out!!

Diane :)
