Anglesey / Re: Elizabeth Hughes (1803-1881)

It looks like that Elizabeth may have married Richard Griffith in nearby Llanynghenedl in 1822 :-\ Even though it says 'the mark of Catherine Hughes' where the couple sign, Richard and Elizabeth have kids in Llechylched. Hmm.

Hi Mike,

So that's what it might be? I guess the enumerator had no idea how to spell what she said. Thank you so much for that, I'll have a look into that family and see if they're it. It seems they might have had another Elizabeth in 1804.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Mary Ann Stother
« on: Monday 14 November 16 23:53 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I'm hoping someone could please help me locate the baptism of my 4x great-grandmother, Mary Ann Stother. From what I can gather she was born around 1798 in the Bethnal Green area.

I believe she may be the daughter of Robert Stother and Sarah Jane Joyce (married 1795). On Mary Ann's 1817 Deptford marriage to Robert Healing, Sarah Jane Stother is a witness. On the 1830 marriage of John Meyricke Stother (Robert's brother), a witness is Mary Ann Healing. Yet I can't find a baptism to confirm my suspicions. The only baptism I can find is a possible sibling, Sarah Jane Stother in Islington in 1802.

The Healing clan is a bit fractured in the census records, it seems Mary Ann's husband died before 1841. I think she died in 1860 in Bermondsey & is buried in Nunhead Cemetery. The 1851 census places her in Lambeth and puts her birthplace as Bethnal Green around 1798.

Thank you in advance for any help anyone can provide :)

Anglesey / Elizabeth Hughes (1803-1881)

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can please help me with my 4x great-grandmother, Elizabeth Hughes. She married George Lewis in Bagillt, Flintshire in 1829. There's a James Hughes as a witness, I presume a relative? ???

I can't find her baptism in Anglesey. Her name's too common. According to census records she was born around 1803. The place names change, and I'm having no luck: 1851 - Bedwin. 1871 - Llandybbingdoe. 1881 - Holyhead. Argh.

I'm an aussie and some of the Welsh place names have got me at a loss ;D From what I can see the first two don't exist! I can't make heads or tails of what they should be.

I can't find the Lewis family in the 1861 census to try and tip it into one place's favour. They lived in Holywell/Greenfield in Flintshire.

If anyone could provide advice/help, I'd be very grateful! :)

Worcestershire / Re: Dingley family of Cropthorne
« on: Tuesday 27 March 12 00:15 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I've just recently found that I'm also related to William Dingley (through his daughter, Lucy). I've come across various trees link them to the family in Cropthorne - but have my reservations on believing they are part of that line yet. I was wondering (hoping!) that maybe someone has found more information on the Halesowen Dingleys and where they came from. ???
