South Africa / Thomas Cobern, Cape Town

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for Thomas Cobern who I believe married in 1828 in Cape Town and died in 1854. I'm sure he could be from England c1794. He was a Captain and appears on several searches for baptisms/deaths. I'm not sure if the father's details are on the marriage, or any reference to relatives. Not sure how SA records differ from UK ones. Only checking as he's showing as a DNA match but want to check everything first before making contact. Any help with him would be great. Not sure if any Master Mariner records are in existence for him also.

Hi all,

I'm trying to find the following person. Henry Herbert born 1875 in Chatham, in the 1911 census. He is a widow in 1904, but I think he may have remarried in the same year to Rose Ellen Simms, who died in 1915 in the Medway registration district. So far I have been unable to find him. I don't know if he travelled abroad at the time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Henry Metcalf Marshall Master Mariner lookup request

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me find details on Henry Metcalf Marshall born c1787 in Northumberland. He was a master mariner according to the census returns. Don't know if he may be just known as Henry Marshall or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated, in tracing his sea faring history.

Family History Beginners Board / How do I find out about a criminal past

Hi all,

I'm thinking of finding out about a relatives criminal past, but I don't know where to start. I know his name, place of birth/death etc. He apparently spent time in prison, but I don't know when and what for, and where he did porridge. I know it would have been between 1950 and 1990. Any advice would be appreciated.

World War One / Frederick William Spackman Military Mystery

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to find any proof that Frederick William Spackman born 1875 Marylebone had served in WW1 A newspaper report into a court case in the 1930's has quoted that he had served with The Buffs during WW1 but had been injured resulting in his blindness, maybe by shrapnel. I've been unable to find his military records or a medal card for him, but then I know that 60% of the records were destroyed by bombing in WW2. Would he have been awarded the Silver Medal Badge because of his injuries, and if so would he be on the roll. Could anyone help trace him as this brickwall in my research is frustrating. I do know from the newspaper report he was drawing a military pension, but other than this and him apparently serving with the buffs I can find no evidence that he did actually serve in WW1 at all.

I'm looking for any info on Susannah M Narburgh (nee Kinge) born 1900 in England. I don't know when she married a Narburgh but believe it was in Melbourne. Would be interested in any info on her, electoral register, death record etc. Would it be possible to find out if she had any children. I don't know when she went to Australia

I'm looking for a Louisa Spackman born 1900 in England. I've tried searching for her with her Father George Spackman but I think I've found them mistranscribed, but I can't view the results. She and her father are quoted as being the following.

Louisa Clikeman & George E Clikeman

Residence, Davis, Utah

Can someone look this record up to confirm if this is the correct people. George should be born c1872 in England
