There is also this site https://www.australiancemeteries.com.au/htm nsw/tamworth/tamworthgen.htm
adding : The link to the Armidale C of E cemetery offers transcripts and takes you to the Armidale family history group.http://www.familyhistoryarmidale.org/index.htm

I will check tomorrow if there is a probate file for him at the NSW archives. https://www.records.nsw.gov.au/  He doesn't appear on their online data but there is a gap in their indexes (c1891-c1927) which is on microfiche.   However I haven't found a probate notice on trove.

Such a sad story ...

edited to fix my confusion between Tamworth and Armidale cemetery - sorry was busy with an off-forum query about Tamworth.  How clever of you MAJM to have noticed  :)

That's interesting Mark. :)

I have been browsing through some of the articles mentioning Rossini of Upper Sturt and there are quite a lot of them  (Rossinis and articles) :)

I thought I had found another son for James William in Eli John Rossini http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article209755742  But of course he was too old to be a son of James William - perhaps a brother.    His WW1 record https://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/SearchNRetrieve/Interface/ViewImage.aspx?B=8038593 tells us his NOK was his father John and he was nearly 24 in 1916.

Here are some articles for you to browse - perhaps they will spark some other memories.

The death notice for Peter ROSSINI who died in Adelaide in 1923 says he is the fourth beloved son of James ROSSINI of Upper Sturt ...?

Hi Marc,
I wonder if it is possible to obtain the probate files including wills (if they exist) of John and Olive from the South Australian Archives.   https://archives.sa.gov.au/

I am not familiar with the South Australian Archives and have been reading through what is available which I find confusing.   There is some mention of probate records not being typically available for public access until after 100 years  ??? (which doesn't sound helpful).   But there is a contact-us link https://archives.sa.gov.au/general-information/contact-us/contact-us so it may be worth asking.

There is a possibility that their probate files contain info about the exact relationship of their heirs and possibly even birth certificates.

Some deaths of the children in W.A.

From W.A. BDM

1957 Colin Hector STEELE, father William S, mother Ada C

From W.A. MCB https://www2.mcb.wa.gov.au/NameSearch/results.php - possible children

1972 Alistair McRae STEELE, age 76, dod 5/2/1972, Mt Pleasant

1974 Kathleen Amy HAMILTON, age 87, dod  4/12/1974, East Fremantle

Not much help there ... other than the McRae as Alistair's middle name as already mentioned by Fiona.

Hi Annie  :)

You can also get a transcription from a transcription agent which is cheaper and they e-mail it to you.

Here are details of the 3 official transcription agents.  https://www.nsw.gov.au/topics/family-history-search/ancestry-research#Ancestry-research-help  scroll down the page.

It's worth checking them all as sometimes they have happy hour specials or 2 for the price of 1 specials etc.

And the divorce file for the Wests should have the "issue of the marriage" (children) with names and ages (if there are any).   This may give you more names to google for.  There should also be a marriage cert.   I am happy to photograph the file for you when I next visit there.
