Gilbert Lanes father was a John Lane, both were chimney sweeps, that is before Gilbert became a gardener.

Gilbert also gives his birth place as South Petherton.I dont think he wants to be found!!

Hi Eileen,
I have forwarded your email onto John Crowe who I am trying to help.He felt certain his ancestors came from Ireland at the time of the famine.

If he does have any Irish blood it must come down from the female side somewhere

Johns father was a Walter John Crowe and his mother Lydra Crowe formerly Mildred.
My email address is (*)
I am the President of the Fleurieu Peninsula Family History Group here in South Australia and also the Irish Ancestors Group, hence my envolment.
Oh by the way we live about 12 miles south of Adelaide.

Best wishes Tim
