Antrim / William Lowry 1st Wife?
« on: Sunday 31 October 21 16:21 GMT (UK)  »
William Lowry returned to North Ireland to find a wife and brought Catherine Stewart from Portglenone, Co. Antrim back to the USA with him in 1898. She stayed with cousins (unknown) in New Jersey. They married 1898 in PA, USA.

On the marriage cert however William had been married before which was news to us.
Was he previously married in North Ireland or USA. Who was this mystery 1st wife he never spoke of?  Was there any children to the 1st marriage? Did his 1st wife die in the USA or North Ireland.

Image is the marriage cert of his 2nd marriage from 1898. Anyone able to help with this mystery?

Offaly (Kings) / John Sheehy & Mary Sullivan Marriage
« on: Sunday 03 October 21 23:45 BST (UK)  »
Hi Guys,

I am looking for some help doing some research for a family remember who is stuck.

John Sheehy married Mary Sullivan in 17 February 1912 at Birr, Kings County.
His profession was listed as Lance Corporal and address was Birr Barracks
Strangely his fathers name was given as John Maloney not Sheehy?.

I am trying to locate John Sheehy in the 1911 Census/1901 Census, birth record and or military records. Can anyone assist in locating information about him.

Can anyone help?

Dublin / Mary Theresa Nixon / Richard Walsh
« on: Wednesday 29 September 21 14:13 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for the date of marriage between Mary Theresa Nixon of Birr  Kings Co. and Richard Walsh which i believe took place in the some point after 1947 early 1950s in Dublin.

We beleive both have passed. Mary was last seen alive by her family at a funeral of her husband Richard Walsh in 1984ish in Highbury London. If anyone can find his death date or hers for that matter it would greatly help my cousin, as Mary was her grandmother.

Thanks in advance

Antrim / District Hospital UD
« on: Wednesday 07 July 21 13:13 BST (UK)  »
A family member was born in Belfast looking at their birth certificate and cannot work out what hospital they were born at in 1947. The hospital was listed as District Hospital UD. My first thought was maybe Ulster District but I could find no record of such a hospital. The Ulster Hospital today in County Down used to be called Dundonald Hospital but again it did not get renamed Ulster hospital until much later. Can anyone help me out in working out which hospital "District Hospital UD" is referring to in 1947?

Antrim / Bigamy - Mary Ann Duncan
« on: Sunday 31 July 16 21:21 BST (UK)  »
It appears that my Great Great Grandmother may have been a bigamist. I was quite surprised to come across this by randomly searching newspapers.

She was arrested in 31 Norwood Street, Belfast accused of bigamy on the 20th February 1885. She had recently married George Brown on the 18th December 1884. The accusation was that he was her 2nd husband. She apparently married a Fortescue Murray in 1877. Her father William Duncan confirmed to the court he attended the 1st marriage in Christ Church. Apparently Fortescue Murray deserted her and was not heard from for a few years. Yet 2 months after her marrying George Brown he turn up in court. On the 25th February 1885 the Morning News reported that she was returned for trial.

I have a few questions.
How long would it typically be from a petty sessions hearing until a trial was heard?
Why did Fortescue Murray vanish?
Any info on Fortescue Murray at all would be good.

Any information, anyone can find about this case would be great. I hope to go to the public record office in the next few months to see what I can find out. Exciting biggest skeleton I found in my tree so far.
