The Lighter Side / Finding a recent death
« on: Friday 01 October 10 21:28 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me....I am trying to find out if my auntie has died. Her and my father lost touch for over 20 years but I found her and reunited them a couple of years ago and he has stayed in touch since by the occasional phone call, letter and the very occasional visit. We have now been trying to contact her for around 3 months but her phone is cut off, there is no reply to letters and her house is empty!

Does anyone know how I can discover if she has died? I have tried the local papers for an obit but to no avail, according to 192.com she was on the electoral role last year but of course this years isn't done yet.

Any help is much appreciated

A christening in Somerset in 1615 states:

John Luke son of Mary Cocks (both a vagrant  and a whoore)

I don't think the vicar liked her at all ;D

Hi,

I am transcribing for freereg and have years from the late 1500's to late 1600's in Somerset and have not come across a marriage record like those, all the ones I have done have both bride & grooms surnames on. I have also searched a few registers for Liverpool and never come across it ???

Warwickshire / Re: 1861 Census

Hi Barbara & Jim,

Ellen's mother was Sarah Golby, born apx 1816 in Ettington, who marries Job Caldecott in 1841. As far as I can tell Job isn't Ellens father, she is with them on the 1851 and with grandparents William & Hannah in Charlecote  on the '41, I have found her mother in '61 and they are not with her and William & Hannah are both dead by this point.

I have checked the whole of Charlecote for them in '61 as both Ellen & David where from there. I think I found all of William & Hannah's children yesterday and am going to track them in the censuses to see if she's with any of them and try and find all of David's siblings too.

To be honest I never considered her not filling the form in, I just thought she was hiding somewhere I couldn't find her ??? But I suppose I wouldn't want to fill it in if I had just lost my husband.

Thanks for all your help

Warwickshire / 1861 Census
« on: Saturday 09 May 09 11:08 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

Could anyone please help me find my ancestor in 1861? John Blackford was born in 1859 to David & Ellen Blackford, David died in 1860 and I can't find Ellen & John on the 1861 census.
Their details are:
John Blackford born in Stratford on Avon in 1859
Ellen Blackford nee Goldby born in Charlecote in 1835/6

I have tried removing fornames, surnames, ages and even places of birth and can't find them. I have looked with the relatives that I can find and still nothing!

Can anyone help?

Thanks
Ange
