Lincolnshire / great burton hall church yard?
« on: Wednesday 16 October 13 18:42 BST (UK)  »
I have found a relative that was buried in the church yard that belongs to this manor house but the house is still in use at present, not sure about the church, do you think i would need permission to visit the church graveyard or do you think i could go there and look without asking? It is within driving distance to where i live so getting there wouldnt be a problem.

Aberdeenshire / george whyte gordon help please?
« on: Sunday 13 October 13 18:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi all
I am looking for the marriage of George whyte gordon who was married to a Annie Irving??. They were married August 14 1909 in Aberdeen scotland. This information came from their first childs birth certificate, Evelyn whyte gordon who was born in 1911 Dumfries. I have put question marks after Annies surname as it isnt very clear on the birth certificate.
Any help greatly appreciated. I have checked scotlands people but still come up with nothing so hoping another pair of eyes can spot anything. x x

« on: Saturday 23 March 13 12:09 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all
I am trying to find a grave of one of my ancestors. His name was John Thorburn Heatlie born 1882 in Selkirk and he died November 1953 in Midlothian. His death record from scotlands people have the district of Inveresk Midlothian (hope i have spelt that right) as his place of death but in brackets its says (usual residence is Musselburgh) is there any newpaper archives of these areas to maybe do a search and hopefully locate a grave somewhere? His was married to Janet Hannah if thats of any help.
Thanks in advance

Selkirkshire / Brierylaw cemetery lair question?
« on: Saturday 23 March 13 09:27 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all
My gg grandfather John Heatlie bought 2 lairs in Brierylaw cemetery Selkirk in 1909, both in section C lair numbers 194 and 195.
What i want to know is would they have had a headstone to show who was buried in which one, and is there any more info i can find on this family lair? John was the 1st Junior burgh officer in the Heatlie family and it has passed from father to son ever since, so given his importance in the yearly festival surely there must be something there to remember him by?
I dont live anywhere near scotland so i cant get up there to have a look myself unfortunately so any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I have found 2 marriages for them the first was on 25 Nov 1826 in Dalkeith his home parish and the second on 4 Dec 1826 in St. Cuthberts her home parish, was this standard practice to be married twice in each others parish and what does 3 times proclaimed for marriage mean please?
Thanks

Canada / Missing death in Canada help
« on: Wednesday 09 January 13 14:56 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all
I am looking for a death of Elizabeth May Mclauchlan (m/s Taylor) in the Templeton/Gatineau (i think) area of Canada between 1925 and 1931. She emigrated in 1925 with her husband John Heatlie Mclauchlan and their son John Taylor Mclauchlan from Chirnside in Berwick Scotland, they started life over there in Montreal with her husbands family that also emigrated. Her husband John Heatlie Mclauchlan was married for a second time on 9 May 1931 in the united church in templeton so i am presuming that Elizabeth had died within the 6 years of living over there. I have searched for her death in various papers over the years but found nothing. Her husband John died in 1984 and his second wife Eleanor Lilly Githrie is the only spouse mentioned.
Any help appreciated
