His grave at Hermanville records it as 5/7th Battalion. That's all I know I'm afraid.

Oh my goodness - thank you all so much! These are amazing and I'm very grateful for your time and efforts.  :D

I'd be very grateful for a restoration on this photo of my Dad's brother Jimmy (who I sadly never met). He was in the Gordon Highlanders and this photo was probably taken in North Africa c1940.

He was fatally wounded on Sword Beach, Normandy on D-Day & died four days later aged 26. Jimmy is on the left of the photo.

I've tried to restore another copy but not managed it so would really appreciate the skills of the experts here! Many thanks.

Thanks Jim - very helpful.  :)

I'm afraid I don't have the original, it's a copy my mother had done several years ago.

Thanks for the replies!

The high(ish) waist makes me think it could be closer to 1910 than 1900, perhaps even 1912ish?

This is Harriet born 1869. It's in England and would be helpful to know when the photo was taken.

The clothes look more 1950s to me - could it be as late as that?

Yes I know where mine are but they aren't that old. The system looks incredibly complex and confusing.
