John SPENCELEY's birth year is variously reported as 1826-31. Birthplace is recorded as Ripon, N Stainley, Melmerby or simply Yorkshire. I cannot find him in 1891 or 1901, but he appears to have died in Dewsbury in 1909, which is where he lived for many years.

Catherine HOPKINS was bap in Llandenny on 28 Mar 1736, father's name James.

She had at least two brothers, James (b 1733) and William (b 1737).

I can find no trace of the marriage of her parents, nor of any other siblings.

There is a marriage in 1724 between a James HOPKINS and an Elizabeth HAINES, somewhere in Wales, and there is another family (6 children, father James HOPKINS), spanning 1714 - 1724, in Llantilio Crossenny.

Can anyone help me find Catherine's mother, please?

Jane PEDLAR was bap in Frithelstock, 05.Nov.1696. Her parents are recorded as 'Jo:' and 'Fran:'

I cannot find a marriage for a couple whose names could be abbreviated to the form recorded. I have, however, found that they appear to have baptized 5 children in total:-

13 Sep 1699  John        to John and Frances
13 Jan  1703  Richard    to Jo:

The only possible marriage I have found is

Mary Ann ROWLING was born in Q2 1849 in Chesterton; her mother's Maiden name was  HAWES.

The only marriage between a male ROWLING and female HAWES I can find in that period is:-

In 1841, there is a Harriet HAWES (b 1823, Cambridgeshire) living with Robert & Sarah, presumably her parents, in Cambridge.

In 1851, John & Harriet ROWLING are living in Trumpington, Chesterton, with their 2-year-old daughter, Mary Ann. Harriet's birth year is 1823, place Cambridgeshire.

In 1861, Harriet's birth details are 1821 in Cambridge.

I cannot find Harriet's birth. Can anyone help, please?
