Hi all

I am hoping someone with a knowledge of the area can point me in the right direction.

I am looking for the baptism record of John Broom b1820/1824 in Chilcompton.  His father was also John Broom b circa 1794 in Radstock.  John Broom Snr was my ggg grandfather.

As I live in the north of England I have no knowledge of the area but am planning a trip to Somerset in the summer and would like to have an idea of which church 'he may' have been baptised at.

I have the family in 1841 in Shropshire and Staffs, it looks as though John Broom Snr moved when his family was very young so the baptism record is crucial to enable me to move forward.

Any help or advice, however small, would be gratfully received as I'm well and truly stuck with this one.

Nicky has kindly given me some information from 1841 census.  I would be grateful if someone could look up the following reference and tell me who else is in the household.  I think most people may be lodgers.

Hi everyone

Hope someone can help me with this request or at least point me in the right direction.

I am looking for the birth/marriage record of John Broom b 1792 Radstock, Somerset and the birth record of his son John Broom b 1818/1820 Chilcompton, Somerset.

In 1851 I have found John Snr in Shropshire as a boarder, occ Tailor, married (no wife with him) and in 1841 John Jnr is in Staffordshire married with a family.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated as I am well and truly up against a brick wall with this family.

Could anyone please help me break down my brick wall.

I have a birth certificate for Mary Ann Brooks b 21 August 1858.  Father Joseph, Foundary Labourer.  Mother Mary Brooks formally Gardan.  The address is Catch Penny, Thornaby.

I have traced Mary Ann from 1881 when she married in Rochdale Lancashire, through to 1901 but cannot find any trace of her on the 1861/71 prior to her marriage.

Any help would be much appreciated as I'm struggling with this one.

Could someone please check the 1861/71 census for Margaret Ann Swann as I cannot find her anywhere.

Margaret Ann Swann born 1857/8 in Bolton and married in 1876.  Her fathers name is Peter Swann occupation Engineer.

Witnesses at her marriage were Sarah Elizabeth Swann and Peter Swann.

Any help much appreciated.
