Hi,
I was just wondering how old you had to be to get married in the 19th century... I have found where my great great grandfather was married for the first time and according to the 1855 entry in the parish registers, his wife was 18.. However I have found her baptism record in 1839 which states she was born and baptised in March of that year so this would make her 16 at the time of the marriage. I have definitely got the right baptism record as the names of her parents match, her fathers name is the same on the baptism and marriage record.. After she died, my great great grandfather went on to marry her sister (my great great grandmother) so I know I have got the tree right... This makes me wonder whether you had to be 18 to get married in church?.
