Yorkshire (West Riding) / Francis Metcalf (b abt 1790) marriage
« on: Saturday 06 April 13 18:25 BST (UK)  »
Hi there :)

1851 census at Helperby/Brafferton
Francis Metcalf b 1790 Kirby Hill -bricklayers labourer
Elizabeth Metcalf 1796 Knaresborough - wife

I have other census info on them but would now like to find a marriage for Francis and Elizabeth , probably before 1826, or any info before that .
The family are Yorkshire Catholics and seem to be from the area between Knaresborough , Easingwold and York ,  mostly working as agricultural labourers
Thankyou

Hello there. I am looking for the death of Ephraim Harrison born abt 1820 Sedgley area  Staffordshire and  baptised at Darkhouse Baptist Church Staffordshire 1824 . Ephraim and his wife Nancy (Ann ?) moved to Killamarsh Derbyshire and lived there  with their son Samuel (who had child named Ephraim)  . They were coal miners.  Nancy is on the 1891 census with Ephraim  but in 1901 Ephraim is still in Derbyshire but widowed .  Thankyou .

« on: Saturday 17 November 12 16:21 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find the parents and any siblings of Mary Lockwood b abt 1811 Wooldale and to get back further if possible , (i believe Mary is Illegitimate, and father is James Hall from Lancashire who is with her in 1851 ,  also Mary is about 5 years older than her husband in records )
In 1842 Mary is a "spinster"  at her marriage and so i think she is with siblings/her family  in  1841

In 1841 census
Mottram in Longendale/Tintwistle , Chesire
William Lockwood 32 b1809
Mary Lockwood 30 b1811
Andrew Lockwood 20 b1821
Sarah Lockwood  15 b1826
(above not born in County)
nearby are
Jonathan Lockwood b abt 1801 (nbic) ,
(Jonathan is born Wooldale , Yorks in 1851  lodging same area at Black Bull Inn with wife Ruth aand family )).

On familysearch there are these siblings , all illigitimate children of an Esther Lockwood , is this my Mary bapt Allerston 1810? Esther has children baptised in the same area Mary has as birthplace on  census "Wooldale"
Esthers childrens  bapts are in different areas but are these siblings ? and might Esther also be the mother of some of the Lockwoods who move to the  Mottram , Chesire area ?
Is it the same Esther having these children ?
Grateful for any opinions on all this , thankyou for reading

The Common Room / An***try Trees ? re Hoyle/Sugden
« on: Tuesday 04 September 12 21:17 BST (UK)  »
I am not a member of the big site Anc***y but today i had the oppurtunity to look at their 'Trees' (Leeds library)  .  In my own research

Jonathan Hoyle marries Agnes Sugden 1771  at Keighley , Yorkshire .
I have this Jonathan as Jonathan Hoyle bapt 1749 Heptonstall , Yorkshire s/o Paul Hoyle . . . .
Yet there are numerous 'Trees' on An***try that have Jonathan Hoyle who marries Agnes Sugden 1771  as  Jonathan bapt Ecclesfield (nr Sheffield)  1742  and that his father is Josephus Hoyle of Elland (nr Halifax) . Some of these trees also have descendants at Haslingden Lancashire and one who emigrates to the States. . . .

I had thought that Paul was Jonathans father for two main reasons .
1. Burial at Keighley 1791 of   Jonathan Hoyle born 1749 (fits Heptonstall Jonathan bapt)  and
2.  His father Pauls burial at Heptonstall 1758 states he was of 'Haw' (Haworth nr Keighley)
My thinking being that Paul had moved just over the moors up  Keighley/Haworth way and been brought home to Heptonstall  for burial and that  son  Jonathan had also moved up  Keighley/Haworth way  too ,  eventually marrying  Agnes there   .

Yet the numerous trees i saw today dont agree . So i am a bit confused . I have read on here about  some trees on that site being wrong  but its just with there being more than one or two  . Any second opinions would be appreciated
